Nila Siddoway Obituary

1929 ~ 2014
Nila Perry Siddoway, age 84, completed her work in mortality Monday morning, May 19, 2014. The diseases of Aphasia and Ataxia contributed to her leaving. She was born in Vernal, Utah November 26, 1929. She married William Ralph Siddoway on March 18, 1952 in the Salt Lake temple. They just celebrated their 62nd anniversary.
She was preceded in death by her parents Stephen Chapman Perry and Clara Glines Perry, parents-in-law Henry Ralph Siddoway and Eunice Marsale (Eaton) Siddoway, one brother-in-law Lynn Irvin Siddoway, one sister-in-law Kathleen Showalter Siddoway, and one nephew, Craig Don Perry. Nila is survived by husband William Ralph Siddoway, one brother Dale Stephen (Jeanine) Perry, four children: David William Siddoway, Robert Alan (Cory) Siddoway, Jolyn Siddoway (Brad) Robbins, and Michelle Siddoway (Joe) Ison.
Her grandchildren are Christopher (Valerie) and Jon Siddoway; Stefani (Brent) Siddoway Willie, Kyle and Brett Siddoway; Seth and Dusty Brenner, Jed and Colton Robbins; Rylie Jo, Cheyann and Cole Beardall; and Shyanne, Austin, Shelby, Jentry and Wyatt Ison. Great-Grandchildren are Lillian and Charlotte (twins) Siddoway; and Jessalyn Jo Brenner.
She graduated from Uintah High School and attended the University of Utah on a scholarship offered by the U of U School of Education. She graduated with a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education. She taught in Salt Lake City, UT (twice), Salinas, CA, San Jose, CA, and Orem, UT for a total of 19 years. She served as a substitute teacher for a full year in each of the following communities: Monterey, California, Bloomington, Indiana and Orem, Utah. She was a constant learner, taking classes and workshops continually. She completed enough class work to be granted the rank of a Masters Equivalent by the state of Utah.
Nila was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a deep faith in her Savior and in her Heavenly Father. She believed in the mission of the Church and served in many responsible assignments throughout her life. She was the President of the Relief Society, the Primary (two wards) and YWMIA (1 branch, 1 district, 2 wards, 1 stake) and many callings within those auxiliaries. She was a den mother and a den leader-coach. Nila served nine years in the teacher training programs. One of her favorite jobs in the Church was visiting teaching.
She was a stake missionary for nearly two years in Monterey Bay, CA. She served with her husband in presiding over the Cumorah/New York Rochester Mission in upstate New York. After retirement Bill and Nila served as missionaries in Independence, Missouri for nineteen months as Directors of the Public Affairs work in the eleven mid-western states.
Nila loved teaching. And the children she taught loved learning. She had a rare gift for teaching English to those for whom English was not their native language. She was devoted to her family. No sacrifice was too great if it would benefit one of her children or grandchildren. A meal from Nila's kitchen was a remarkable experience without equal. Her indomitable spirit, irrepressible smile, and the aura of love which surrounded her will leave a host of friends, neighbors, and family members grateful for her life and the blessing of being influenced by her. They are strengthened by the eternal bonds of love will bind them together now and forever.
The family extends gratitude to the IHC Hospice unit directed by Dr. Cameron Kesler and his staff for the excellent and compassionate care which Nila has received. Two of her very close companions have been her Nurse Amy and her Aide Cindy.
A viewing will be held at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home 646 East 800 North Orem, UT on Tuesday May 27th, 2014 from 6-8 pm. What a fantastic team you were – are! You were able to take a fledgling Public Affairs office in Independence and make it work by taking the message of the Church through the Midwest and western Canada. But I will especially remember the once-in-a-lifetime memory of recreating the exodus from Nauvoo and the Sesquicentennial trek . It wouldn't have been so successful without your hard work. I love you both. Darlene Hutchison

Siddoways,

I feel that I have had two Mothers move on to the other side. I cannot help but feel that my Mother, who passed away just before I went to Cumorah and had her "adopt" me, has embraced Nila and with much knowledge and appreciation thanked her for helping to raise me.

I will be forever grateful for the blessing of knowing her and feeling loved by her.

Sincerely,

Perry Bratt

Dear President Siddoway and family. My prayers go out to you and your family for your loss. Sister Siddoway's beautiful smile and gentle spirit will not be forgotten by this Elder. What an amazing companion she has been for you as well as a wonderful Mission Mother for all of the Elders who had the honor to serve with you and Sister Siddoway. May the Lord bouy you up as you go through this experience with your family, and our mission family. We love you, and loved Sister Siddoway.

May God bless you and your wonderful family.
