Darryl Miller Obituary
Bettendorf
Darryl Miller, 50, passed away Friday, April 22, 2016, at home. Memorial services will be held 6 p.m. Monday, May 2, at Iles-Westover Chapel where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Gary, IN at a later date.
Darryl was born with his twin sister, Karen L. Miller on November 21, 1965 to Willie Mae and Alexander Miller in Gary, IN. Growing up, Darryl found many obstacles but with his fierce tenacity, he overcame all. His family was his core source of strength throughout his life. After graduating from Gary West High School in 1984, he attended the University of Notre Dame with his twin, Karen. Darryl followed his older brother's footsteps by attending medical school at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. His passion for providing health care for others led him to Des Moines, Iowa to perform his residency program at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Internal Medicine. Darryl completed a Rheumatology Fellowship at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. He practiced Rheumatology at Quincy Medical Group in Quincy, IL and later had a private practice in Pekin, IL. For the last year and a half of his career he practiced at Genesis Medical Group in Moline, IL.
Darryl's talents included his empathy for others, respect for all and his love to educate himself as well as all that knew him. His greatest love was raising his children.
Darryl leaves behind his wife Celeste, his children, Sydney, Simone, Powell and Willow, all of Johnston; his father, Alexander Miller, his siblings, Alexander Miller, Jr., Tina Miller, Sarita Stevens, Karen Tyson, Terra Barnett, and Anita Castro; as well as a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Willie Mae.
