Des Moines
Mary Ellen Risewick, 91, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Wesley Acres in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, July 6, 2015 at Westkirk Presbyterian Church in Urbandale. Private family interment will be at Masonic Cemetery.
Mary Ellen was born August 15, 1923 in Willmar, MN to Emil and Ellen (Nelson) Lundquist. She received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota in 1947 and pursued further education at Drake University. She was united in marriage to John F. Risewick, Jr. on August 29, 1947.
Mary Ellen was a member of Westkirk Presbyterian Church, Questors and University Women's Association. She worked as a social worker, elementary teacher, a librarian and volunteer. She enjoyed being a wife, mother and grandmother. She had an exceptional eye for beauty, not only in the world around her, but in the hearts of those who were close to her. Mary Ellen's family rejoices in her faith and testimony in Jesus Christ, and her new home in heaven.
Survivors include her children: Christopher (Mary Kay) Risewick of Urbandale, Steven (Marylu) Risewick of Johnston; grandchildren: James (Anne), Michael, and Steven J. (Elizabeth) Risewick; and great grandchildren, Holden and Avery Jean Risewick. Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, John; sisters: Ruth Sherlock, Adina Wrobleski, and Eloise Feigal Bliss; and brother, John Lundquist.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to WesleyLife Hospice in Mary Ellen's name at WesleyLife.org.

What a lovely lady. Wonderful, thoughtful friend, marvelous wife, devoted Mother. A gracious host. Beautiful garden tenderly attended. John knew she was a special blessing for him. We count her among "Westkirk's Hall of Faith" members. Thank you, Mary Ellen. Blessings to you forever.
