Thomas X. Wright

Des Moines - Thomas X. Wright, died March 23, 2018 at Arbor Springs where he resided for the last six months. He is survived by his children, William Thomas Wright of Kearney, NE, Kathleen Wright Cunningham of Des Moines, Mark Francis Wright (Deborah) of Huntsville, Alabama and Dr. Maureen Wright Brown (Lane Brown) of Portland, Oregon; six grandchildren, Kara Betka, Cullen Wright, Nicole Telander, Kevin Wright, Sean Wright and Kyle Wright and three great grandhchildren, Aria Telander, Haleigh Wright and Henry Wright. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Margaret Ann in 2009 and son, Paul in 2011; and his siblings, Bill, Mary, Margaret Ann and John.

Mr. Wright graduated from Dowling High School in 1941. He graduated from Drake University Law School in 1948, receiving a Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree. He served as senior vice president of Employers Insurance Companies. He was past president of The Iowa Insurance Institute and a member of the International Association of Insurance Counsel and the Iowa Bar. He also served on the boards of Christ Child Home and Bishop Drumm Care Center.

Mr. Wright, during World War II, was a 1st Lieutenant Navigator on a B-24 Liberator, flying 35 missions with the Eighth Air Force over Germany. He was awarded four Oak Leaf Clusters and a Silver Oak Leaf Cluster to the Air Medal with three Bronze Stars.

Visitation and Funeral Services will be held at St. Mary of Nazareth Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 3-6pm, on April 3, 2018 with a rosary and vigil service beginning at 3pm. Funeral services will be held April 4 at 10:30 am, followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Mary of Nazareth Catholic Church, Bishop Drumm Care Center or Dowling Catholic High School.
