JANET COLEMAN Obituary

is with sadness that the family of Janet R. Coleman announce her death on Saturday, February 2, 2008 in Lexington, KY having surrendered to diabetes and cancer. She is survived by husband William, brother Kenneth McRae and family, son David, son Richard and family, and daughter Judi Riehl and family. Born November 8, 1925 in Detroit and graduated from Cooley HS, she joined GM and became an executive secretary. She married "that engineer" on June 4, 1949 and raised her 3 children in Birmingham and Troy, MI then in Edina, MN. In 1972, they returned to W Bloomfield, MI until retiring to Keowee Key, SC. Janet maintained an active social life in book clubs and bridge groups, church, and creating opportunities for her children. Teaching at church, leading Cub Scouts, supporting dance, helping with homework, and countless baseball games are only fully appreciated in hindsight. Her devotion and love were always apparent to friends and PEO sisters for whom she always had an open door and a hot meal. Janet enjoyed to travel on family vacations or tours around the world, loving to plan, sightsee, cruise, and build the scrap books. Janet's ashes will be scattered as she wished with her husband's. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association. Good-bye, Mom… you'll live on through us forever.
