Albert Seymour Obituary

Albert Jessie "A.J." Seymour, 80, passed away at home with family present on Friday, Feb. 8, 2008.
Memorial service: 1 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Grand Prairie, 122 N.E. 2nd St. in Grand Prairie. Committal service: 10:30 a.m. Monday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in the name of A.J. Seymour to Arlington Cancer Center, 906 W. Randol Mill Road, Arlington 76012; Odyssey Health Care Hospice, www.odsyhealth.com, 2630 West Freeway, Suite 102, Fort Worth 76102; or Kids, Inc., Woman's Club, One Park Square North, Grand Prairie 75050.
A.J. Seymour was born in Elkhart and joined the U.S. Navy at the young age of 17 serving in World War II and again during the Korean War. He retired after 40 years of service at LTV Aerospace as a quality engineer. In 1953, he married Joyce Weaver and remained married for 54 years.
A.J. was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grand Prairie for 48 years, a member of Sam R. Hamilton Masonic Lodge, 32nd-degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite Temple of Dallas. Throughout the years, he coached Little League baseball and volunteered at the Scottish Rite Children's Hospital.
A.J. was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and sharing time with close friends and family.
A.J. was preceded in death by his brother, Clarence W. Seymour of Grand Prairie; and granddaughter, Anndrea Nicole Ruderer.
Survivors: Wife, Joyce Weaver Seymour; son, Mark Seymour and wife, Cynthia; daughter, Sabrina Ruderer and husband, Andy; sister, Louise Vickery of Grand Prairie; grandchildren, Ryan Ruderer, Jessica Seymour, Adam Seymour and Ross Ruderer; several nieces and nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.
