The wonderful Bertie Hogg was a passionate AND compassionate advocate for victims and survivors of crime. As a Founding Board member of the National Center for Victims of Crime, Bertie was instrumental in strengthening Texas' victims' rights laws over 30 years ago. I'll always treasure her beautiful smile, positive attitude and amazing work ethic! My condolences to the Hogg family and to Fort Worth for this tremendous loss. Best, Anne Seymour, Washington, DC

My experience with Bertie started in the early 60s. She was the mother of Elizabeth, Robbie, John, James, and Brooks. I was 5 years old when I met the family. I became friends with Elizabeth and Robbie right away being the same age. What I like so much about all the kids was just how friendly they were to me which made me feel close to all of them. Now I don't ever remember seeing Bertie without a smile. But as a child what I liked her for was was when we did get the chance to talk she was very kind and she would listen and was always easy to understand . Now after Robbie's death I had a lot of issues and was troubled by that tragedy deeply. Then in the late 90s I got an opportunity to sit down with Bertie and she explained the whole story to me and what effects it had on the family and her. It was such a heart felt kind thing for her to do and it brought me to tears. I discovered just how loving and special she really was. I only wish I had told her how much she helped and how special she was. To Elizabeth, James , and Brooks I wish you well and I hope all things are right in your world. I miss you all. Paul
