Dear Family of Dr. Bowden,

Dr. Bowden delivered my daughter, 30 years ago. I at the time was a unwed expecting mother. I'm now married and have 1 other son. I can't begin to tell you how Dr. Bowden eased my fears and concerns as a teenager, unwed at that in 1973. He was so encouraging, and so understanding. My mother and I often talk about the memories of my daughter's birth with Dr. Bowden. He was truly a gifted man, doctor, and friend. God intended for him to be the doctor he was, that was his purpose. God bless you and your family, I will keep you in my prayers.

Forty eight years ago today, Dr. Bowden delivered our first of three daughters. When the last one was born he thought it was going to be a boy. When it was a girl my husband told him he said it was going to be a boy. Dr. Bowden said it was right up to the last minute.

We didn't have a name picked out for one and he said name her Melinda, that's what I named our daughter, so we did. He also delivered four of our grandchildren. Of course the first one was a girl. Hubby told him he didn't know how to deliver boys.He finally delivered 3 grandsons for us. He was such a special and caring person. When my granddaughter was 6 he delivered her brother. He came to get her and took her hand and was laughing and talking and skipping down Harris Hospital hall with her telling her to hurry and see the baby. He wouldn't tell her what it was because mother and daddy had to do that. This is at 2 o'clock in the morning and you would have thought it was the middle of the day. My daughters and I were so saddened to hear of his passing. There will never be another like him. May God bless his family. I know they miss him so very much.

I am so saddened to hear of Dr. Bowden's death. He was my OB and delivered my four babies from 1977 to 1984. He made having babies fun. He was a one of a kind man. I could never imiagine having a baby without him. When he retired from OB, I retired from having babies for that reason. He was the inspiration for me to become a Labor & Delivery nurse. He was a gentle and caring person. I was blessed to have had this man as a part of mine and my children's lives. He took time to sit at the bedside of his laboring patients to encourage and coach them. He gave his home phone number to his paitients and said, "call me whenever you need to." There will never be anyone else like him. I met many good friends waiting in Dr. Bowden's waiting room. It was always like a party there. He loved people and he loved what he did. He will be missed.

My mother called to inform me that the "great" doctor who delivered me had passed away. She had only fond words to say about you. May you reap your rewards in heaven! Thank you!

Dr. Bowden was my ob/gyn for years. He delivered my son in 1968. Since then, I have never found an ob/gyn that I have had the confidence in that I did in Dr. Bowden. I have thought about him a lot and am so sorry to hear about his death.

All I can say is, Dr. Bowden I love you and will miss you.

I have so many fond memories of Andy. He was my inspiration to become a Childbirth Instructor. We had such fun during all those deliveries. Dr. Bowden is a one-of-a-kind treasure that will be remembered and loved forever.

My condolences to his children and grandchildren during this time of loss.
