David Sheldon Obituary

David Glen Sheldon, also known as "The Angel of Death" and "The Russian Assassin" in the world of wrestling, passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, at his home in Bedford.
Memorial service: 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at North Hills Funeral Home, 8525 Mid-Cities Blvd. Burial following in Bear Creek Cemetery, Euless.
Born July 20, 1953, in New York, he was raised in Miami, Fla., and graduated from North Miami High School in 1971. He moved to the Arlington area in 1987. Very athletic at an early age, Angel was involved in football, discus, shot put and basketball. His large stature provided him the perfect armor for a career in the Stampede and WCW Wrestling Federations, introduced to him by his lifelong friend, Pat Mitchell, in 1986.
You may remember the "Angel of Death" on Friday night television alongside names such as Bret Hart, Chris Benoit, Jake the Snake Roberts and others. Angel was trained by the infamous Red Basteen. He was also featured in "Walker Texas Ranger" and other television shows. He loved life and was a cherished friend. He was a larger-than-life pillar of the community. He was known for his compassion and sense of humor, and Angel's friends and family will sorely miss him!

Big Dave!
Thank you for all of the wonderful wrestling entertainment. I enjoyed watching you throughout the years and hope I will see you again when we all can check out that big PLAY CARD in HEAVEN!
Say "hi" to the Von Erichs and all of the rest of the old gang for me.
You wouldn't remember me but I was the security officer who watched the wrestlers' vehicles at the old Sportatorium in Dallas.

My dear, sweet, kind David, how I will miss you dearly. It was just a few moments ago that we found each other once again after a long 20 years, how you once again made me laugh remembering our life together, just as we were putting the pieces together again......I love you my dear, always have. Thank you for telling me that you loved me, thank you for showing me a different path, may the angels hold you dear forever!

I was shocked and saddened to hear about Angel. He was such a great person and used to help me at the gym when I didn't know what I was doing there. I was lucky enough to run into him out here in Los Angeles years later, and it was great to see him. I have fond memories and know he will be missed. My thoughts are with his loved ones.

I remember when he was with the Freebirds. Wrestling is not what it used to be. I like the 'old school' guys. Didn't know he lived in this area, probly seen him and didn't know it. RIP

One of the good guys in wrestling and one of the good guys in the club scene. You were always giving to those around you. Haven't seen you in ten years, but the news hit like a ton of bricks. I hope to one day leave such a fond memory for others. This is when you know you led a good life.

I enjoyed watching him on stampede wrestling. My favorite memory of him was serving him at the esso in calgary on 16 Avenue NE and Edmonton trail. He was always so polite. He will be missed and remembered always as one of the greats of stampede wrestling

I was fortunate enough to work with Dave and he was the true Gentlemans Gentleman. He had so much respect for the business and the fans as well as his fellow workers!! I still remember and laugh when I think of the big Goose egg he got from a shot to his head during a match and he looked like one of those belouga whales with the huge jutting foreheads. It's funny because he would walk around with tape on his head to try to help the swelling, but he still had this HUGE Bulge sticking out. Sorry your gone buddy, you were a true class act!!!!
