Edward Morelock Obituary

Edward Douglas Morelock, 65, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009, at his residence in Burleson.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday in Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: Bethesda Cemetery in Burleson. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home.
Ed was born Nov. 28, 1943, in Fort Worth to Helen Hope and Ira Lee Morelock. Ed grew up in the Burleson area, deciding to make his permanent home here. He graduated from Burleson High School in 1962. He worked for the Burleson post office for 30 years, retiring in August 1999. The Burleson community came to know him for his regular smile and always drinking Dr Peppers. Ed was also a longtime follower of Burleson Elks football, traveling around the state and never missing a game. He was a founder of the Burleson ex-Students Association, helping plan the annual homecoming parade. Ed loved to travel Texas to find the little out-of-the-way diners and enjoyed traveling around to watch Texas football, including the Texas Aggies. The family would like to extend its thanks to Odyssey HealthCare Hospice who gave such loving and excellent care.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; sisters, Nancy and Bobbie; and brother, Joe.
Survivors: Son, Trent Morelock and wife, Dr. Ruth Ann Adell, of Waxahachie; daughter, Trisha McDonell and husband, Richard, of Austin; brothers, Danny Morelock of Fort Worth, Chris Morelock and wife, Soon, of Fort Worth; sister, Ann Morelock of Cleburne; and grandchild, Ethan McDonell of Austin.

I'm very sorry for your loss I enjoyed working with him at Alvarado High School where we both subbed. He always had a smile and a story we knew several of the same people so we would catch up with each other and talk. I will miss him very much.

I was extremely saddened by the news of Ed's passing. He was a credit to the Burleson Exes and the High School. He was a recognizable presence at the yearly banquets. I missed seeing him last year and he will be missed forever now. May God be with you in this time of mourning.

My sincere sympathy to Ed's family. Ed was a good friend and I will miss him. He enjoyed all things that went along with being a Burleson Elk and will be greatly missed by all of us in the Class of '62.

One of my early memories is playing with Eddie at Mrs. Thornton's "Washateria" before we ever began first grade. He has been a good friend ever since. Blessings to his family in their sorrow.
