I met Emily in 1994, 7th grade first period Coach Malloys Texas history class at wayside. I had started school in the middle of the year and day one I was so nervous I spotted an empty seat behind Emily and sat. I quietly opened my lunch bag and was gonna sneak half my sandwich before lunch when this girl turned in her seat in front of me and asked for half my sandwich. That weekend we had our first sleep over and after that we were totally inseperable.Growing up with Emily as my best friend was like a dream come true. Her family became my second family. There was nothing better waking up on a Saturday morning at Emilys house and walking across the street to mamaws for the best cooking in Texas. This is where I was introduced to red eye gravy, and for this Yankee born girl, that wasn't happening but Emily tried. And Papaw tried. To no avail. Emily loved spending time with them. And I know she is with them once again.Summers at the lake, winter's playing in Texas snow. Nothing more then the two of us loved then just being together. She was closer then a sister or a cousin. She was a part of me. She knew me deeper and better then anyone else in this world and I knew her. We knew each other's secrets. Each other's fears. There aren't many words that exist that explain a friendship like that. She was my companion and I was hers.We went on each other's family vacations. We shared everything from crushes to going on our first dates as third wheels! Some of the stories I have u wouldn't believe, like a trip to Oklahoma with my sister the car breaking down and we finally got a ride from this lady who had a pet monkey named Sara and how we got in an argument in this ladies back seat over who got to hold her monkey. We talked about everything. We joked about being old together. Her life was cut to short for that. She loved talking about Loderick being a senior this year and was so proud of him and excited about his graduation. She would have been the best grandmother ever. She would have been beaming dancing with her son on his wedding day. She will still be there no doubt just not the way anyone could have possibly imagined. Love you T2 ♥
