Fred Goodman Obituary

Fred Allen Goodman RIVER OAKS--Retired U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Fred Allen Goodman, 70, returned to heaven peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 19, 2017. FUNERAL: 3:30 p.m. Monday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Rosary: 5 p.m. Sunday in Greenwood Chapel. He was born in Humboldt, Tenn., on Sept. 14, 1946, to Fred and Ruby Goodman. Master Sgt. Goodman lived a brilliant life of honor and service to God, his country, family, and community. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 26 years, receiving numerous awards. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brother, Larry Goodman; and daughter, Sonia Goodman Nunez. SURVIVORS: He will forever be remembered and cherished by his wife of over 50 years, Avella Goodman; daughter, Laura Ann Alvarez and husband, Jaime; grandchildren, Rachelle and Amber Alvarez, and Jose and Andrea Nunez; brother, Charles Goodman and wife, Mary; mother-in-law, Concepcion Arellano; brother-in-law, Joe Arellano and wife, Carmen; sisters-in-law, Andrea Urias and husband, Eddie, and Emilly Arellano; and numerous nieces and nephews.

I worked with Fred for many years at the Post Office on Mark IV. I always enjoyed seeing him and he always had a smile and good things to say. He was a great man and will be missed. I look forward to seeing Fred in heaven.
