I knew Jerry had recorded duets with Lynn Anderson. During The Chart years. I didn’t know he wrote the beautiful and melodic “Tear By Tear “ that Lynn sang on her first album. It’s one of my very favorites. He was quite a talent.

Jerry Max Lane, Great country singer. Remember two-stepping around the dance floor at Rustlers Rest several nights in the early seventies listening to him sing "This Ain't No Beer Joint No It's a Tear Joint."

So sorry, just found out of Jerry's passing, met him at PECAN PLANTATION at a golf tournament. Then always went to Billy Bobs to hear him play. He was an awesome singer.

Oh, my goodness. I know this is a year late but I had no idea Mr. Lane was gone until yesterday when I was remembering the days when my husband and I first met....40 years ago this month at Rustler's Rest. Decided to do a quick internet search and that's how I found out Mr. Lane had passed away. My honey and I fell in love there at Rustler's and married a few months later. The night after we married, we were back at Rustler's...dancin' the night away to the greatest music played by the greatest band led by the greatest musician ever...Mr. Jerry Max Lane. we walked up to that famous stage...there was not another one like it...and told Mr. Lane we had just gotten married and asked if he would play our favorite song...Secret Love. He was a gracious man so he said he'd be happy to play the song for us. Now whoever hasn't heard the way Jerry Max Lane did Secret Love...well, you just never heard it done the Texas way. He turned that Doris Day song into Western Swing perfection! If there was a recording of him playing Secret Love, I sure wish I knew where it was! Well, my husband and I are still together...about to celebrate our 40th Anniversary and when we look back at our younger days we always think about Rustler's Rest and Mr. Jerry Max Lane. That's just what the good Lord used to bring us together and we are so glad He did! God bless you, Mrs. Lane, and your family. There are all kinds of great musicians out there but there will never be another one like Jerry Max Lane...

I never met Jerry Max, but very much admired his skills as a songwriter. My favourite song of his was 'Maybe In Mexico' and I was delighted that I got the chance to interview him on that very subject (Mexico) some six years ago. RIP to a great talent and my condolences to his family.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My heart goes out to all of Jerry's family. I met Jerry Max Lane when I was 6 years old in Irving when he was an Irving Policeman. I so looked up to him. I went to see him play at Rustlers Rest Bar and still have a business card and note from him! I didn't keep up with him and I am so sad I didn't. My prayers go out to all his family. I thought he was the greatest. Love and blessings to all.
