Jerry S. Wachowski

Jerry S. Wachowski, 95, passed away peacefully in his sleep, Saturday, Jan. 27, 2012. Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wedgwood Baptist Church, 5522 Whitman Ave., Fort Worth 76133. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Jaromir "Jerry" Stefan Wachowksi was born Sept. 2, 1916, in Moscow, Russia, to Polish refugees during World War I. Jamomir grew up in Poland and fought in World War II. Throughout the war he spent time in Auschwitz and fought with the underground in the Warsaw uprising in August 1944. He then spent time in Buchenwald and later moved west through eight German POW camps until he was liberated. After the war he came to America where he received the name Jerry. He took up residence in Chicago until he graduated from DeVry and came to Texas to work at Convair in Fort Worth where he met and married his wife and later had a son. Jerry worked at General Dynamics until 1988 when he retired as a chief in the SimSil Lab. Jerry was a deacon at Wedgwood Baptist Church. At the age of 90, he had a stroke and fought a good fight until at age 95 he succumbed to the effects of old age and the stroke. Survivors: Wife, Emma Lois Wachowski; son, John Stefan Wachowski; and grandson, Alexander Stefan Wachowski.
