Lanelle Banks Hyde

Granbury, Texas - Lanelle Banks Hyde passed away peacefully at home in Granbury, Texas the evening of August 18, 2025. Her son Kelly and daughter in law Jackie from Knoxville, TN, son Blake of Dallas, Texas and cherished friend Marcus Marlin and his family plus Sheryl Hutchinson were present when Lanelle went to be with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
Born on January 22, 1937in Fort Worth, Texas, Lanelle was the second child of William Alton Banks and Ola Jackson Banks, both of Fort Worth. Lanelle was preceded in death by her parents and sister Charlene Banks Krummel. Lanelle is survived by her two sons Kelly and Blake, three grandchildren Hope Alexandra Hyde, Esq., William Houston Hyde, Hunter Hannah Hyde, brother Byron Banks, nephews Bruce Krummel (Doreen), Robert Hyde (Tia) and Ross Hyde (Debbie) plus, nieces Annie Laurie Hyde, Josie Banks, Wendy Banks and favorite Texas cousins Greg Jackson, Bobby Ellis, and Ann Berger.
Lanelle attended Lubbock High school before moving to Fort Worth, graduating from Poly High School in 1955. She was an accomplished violinist, piano player and loved to sing. At Poly High School she met the late Jerry M. Hyde, whom she was married for forty-one years until his passing. Lanelle enjoyed attending high school reunions for both Lubbock and Poly High School for seventy years staying connected with former classmates and friends like Carol Passmore, Suzy Justice, Ronald Tackett, and Kenneth Copeland.
Lanelle, Jerry and her two sons moved from Dallas to Arlington, TX in the late 1960s. Lanelle participated in Arlington activities including serving as a Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church for more than thirty years. She was actively involved as den mother in Cub Scouts and Webelos, PTA, and the Arlington Woman's Club. She never missed a single athletic game her sons played from kindergarten through college, becoming close with the Shiller, Miller, Foster, Hughes, Renfro, Broyles, Rippy, Sulzen, Johnson and Childress families.
After returning to college to complete her degree while raising her sons and running a household, in 1981 Lanelle graduated with Honors from Texas Women's University with a degree in Education. Later she obtained her Master of Science in Education with Honors from the same institution, receiving the H. Howard Hughes Award for outstanding Shakespearean student. Lanelle taught Honors English to junior high and high school students in Arlington for twenty-five years. She frequently carried stacks of papers to grade to and from her sons' college football games and later when babysitting her three grandchildren.
After her husband Jerry passed away, Lanelle moved to Pecan Planation on Lake Granbury where she previously shared family adventures, becoming involved with the Pecan Plantation Woman's Club. Lanelle joined Lakeside Baptist Church and the Praise the Lord (PTL) Sunday School class. She admired Pastor Mark Forrest's preaching, marveled at Malcolm Yarnell's biblical knowledge, and thoroughly enjoyed Brad and Jeannie Humphrey's PTL leadership shared with a class filled with authentic believers and supportive friends. Lanelle met Marcus Marlin and his wonderful daughters Teresa and Felicia in Granbury. Lanelle and Marcus were always on the go until shortly before her passing, frequently seen at Pam's Too for breakfast, volunteering at the Granbury Opera House and enjoying performances at Granbury Live.
Lanelle greeted everyone with a smile, laughed heartily, treated others with kindness, and demonstrated her faith through words and actions.
Thank you, mom, for your love, countless sacrifices, encouragement and blessing of faith you provided. It is an honor to be your son. You indeed fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.
A visitation will occur on Sunday, August 24 from 5 to 7 pm at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury, TX. A funeral service will be held at Lakeside Baptist church in Granbury, TX on Monday August 25, 2025, at 1 pm with a reception afterwards. A brief graveside service will occur on Tuesday August 26, 2025, at 1pm at Moore Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens in Arlington, TX. All family and friends are welcome.
