Larry David Meeks

1946 - 2015

Larry David Meeks, 68, of Sugar Land passed through the gates of heaven on Jan. 23, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family as he began his journey home. Celebration of life: A celebration of Larry's life will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Joe T. Garcia's, La Puertita. Born Aug. 18, 1946, in Pampa, he was the youngest son of Wayne and Sue Meeks. As a member of a military family, Larry moved around the country until settling in Fort Worth where he graduated from Castleberry High School. He attended Texas Christian University where he earned a bachelor's degree. He earned a master's degree from the University of North Texas in Denton. During his successful career as an educator he held several leadership positions with school districts in Texas, including principal at the elementary school he had attended as a student. A loving and caring husband, father and grandfather, Larry will be greatly missed by his family and large circle of friends. Survivors: Larry was married for 34 years to the love of his life and true soul mate, Carolyn Callaway Meeks. He is also survived by his daughter, Catherine Parks and her husband, Kyle; grandson, Hudson; granddaughter, Skyler, both of Fort Worth; son, Chad Bridges and his wife, Claudia; grandson, Matt; granddaughter, Lauren, of Sugar Land; brother, Dan and his wife, Lois, of Wimberley; sister, Sue Ann O'Neal of Fort Worth; and sister-in-law, Susie Edmiaston and her husband, Dale, of Granbury.
