Ralph worked for me {Ken Alexander} at Sears. We played tennis together and were close for a long time but lost touch over the years. He was a talented special guy and I am sorry I did not know until today of his passing. I am extremely saddened about his death.

He was my father and my hero. Not just because he was my father, but because he was actually my hero.

Ralph was a friend and colleague at Ranal (the company he last worked for) before he passed away. For all of us who knew Ralph in Ranal (in Michigan, Montreal and Bangalore) met him or interacted with him, his energy and enthusiasm was unmistakably captivating. His stint with us was brief but the memory of him will remain with all of us for long.

Ralph Springer was my brother, my mentor, my guide, and my friend. He was a great person, a hero to many, a wonderful human being. From my earliest memories during 1956- when I was 3 years old and Ralph was 5- Ralph taught me so much. Ralph taught me to gather eggs on our grandparents' farm, to ride bicycles, to climb trees. He also helped me learn how to read. Throughout his life, Ralph provided countless good examples of how a person should think, speak, and behave. He had a wonderful ability to bring people together. I will always admire Ralph's intelligence, his athleticism, and his artistic abilities. I will never forget his kindness, his humor, his charisma, and his charm. There was something very special about Ralph, something precious and irreplaceable. He was positive and practical, a pleasure to be around, a dedicated father and family member. Holidays and birthdays with Ralph, Melanie, Rick, and Kaleigh were always joyous times. I will always be grateful that I had the honor and privilege of knowing Ralph and of being his brother for as long as I did. The positive and loving impressions Ralph left with me and with countless others will endure until the end of time. --- [If any readers of this message wish to share their memories of Ralph, please e-mail Glenn Springer at [email protected]. There's a misconception nice guys finish last. That certainly wasn't the case our senior year in high school. Ralph provided a great deal of excitement on the basketball court and helped Sam Houston reach a winning season unlike anything we had known before. In reading some of the comments posted here, it's obvious that what we saw in him in high school, others saw throughout his life. He was genuinely a nice guy, a stand-up kinda guy, a guy willing to work hard at whatever he set his mind to. I can only imagine how much he will be missed by those who loved and cared about him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Ralph was a good friend from elementary school through high school. I'll always remember Ralph's sense of humor and wit. I remember a portrait he did of our principal at Berry Elementary School. Ralph was an inspiration to me through art, laughter and friendship. Ralph's family and friends are in my prayers.

Ralph was a true friend and always spoke so highly of his family. I will miss our conversations and and the many times we spent on the golf course. He is one of the finest people I have had the honor to know.

I worked with Ralph at IBM off and on for 15 plus years. Ralph was my manager in the late 80's when we had Halliburton. He was always a great golfing buddy that taught we some very creative shots. I also preferred to sit next to him in an IBM meeting because I was well entertained by his drawings of very strange creatures with horns and vacumn tubes. When my daughter, Kathryne, broke her leg in 1987, Ralph gave her a stuffed bear that she named Ralph and cherished for years. Note: now Kathryne is an MD in surgery. I am sorry for your family's great loss. Ralph was with me Saturday on the golf course, I shot 77, he would have been proud.
Sincerly, Mike Lucas

Melanie and Kaliegh:
You don't know me but I am one of the countless people that have worked with your father over the years at IBM and loved him. He was one of the smartest and yet most decent human beings that I've ever had the privelidge of working with and laughing much with. We can all learn from his good character and cheer. He'll truly be missed.

Ralph was a fine person in every way: good-hearted, dependable, bright, caring. It was always a pleasure to work with him, to have a light chat, to share a joke. I'm sure he will be missed by uncountable numbers of friends, colleagues and acquaintences. My heart and prayers go out to Melanie and their children.

Dear Melanie, Rickie, and Kaleigh,
I have such fond memories of a Ralph full of life-force, in love wtih Melanie, "smart-mouthed" and quick with a rebuttal . I can't believe he's gone. It's seems like it was yesterday we were having team lunches, giving customer presentations and demos, sharing stories about our kids. I will hold wonderful memories of him. My sincerest sympathy for your pain and loss. My prayers are with you.

Melanie and Kaleigh,
Our family wanted to extend our deepest sympathies. Ralph's laughs and smiles are so contagious. It's always heart warming to see him working diligently to maintain your beautiful yard or playing with Kaleigh. The snowball fights were the best! We will greatly miss him.
Sincerely,
Dennis, Daphne, Andrea, Brandi, & Kiley
