Ronald Clinkscale Obituary

Ronald William Clinkscale

July 10, 2024

Fort Worth, Texas - Ronald William Clinkscale, a man of great integrity and an unwavering faith in God, died on July 10, 2024, after a long illness.

Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Worth with a reception to follow.

Visitation: 6:00 - 8:00 Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home, 4350 River Oaks Blvd, Fort Worth 76114.

There will be a private burial.

Ronnie was born in Amarillo, Texas on October 22, 1933. He moved to Fort Worth in 1948 where he would complete his education, pursue his career and raise his family. He attended Arlington Heights High School where he was an all-state halfback.

His athletic achievements allowed him to attend T.C.U. on a football scholarship where he earned All Southwest Conference quarterback. He used that opportunity to earn a degree in accounting, which led to a long professional career. After graduation from T.C.U., he played professional football in the Canadian Football League for the Calgary Stampeders and the B.C. Lions.

Ronnie married Kay Lockman in 1956 and they celebrated 67 years of marriage. They were blessed with three children, Bill, Lynn and Anna.

After graduation from T.C.U. he joined the local accounting firm of Leatherwood and Ward. He began his career at the firm in the off season from his time as a football player in Canada.

Leatherwood and Ward would eventually merge with Coopers & Lybrand (now Pricewaterhouse Coopers) where he would serve as managing partner of the Fort Worth Office until his retirement.

Ronnie was an active member of First Presbyterian Church for 65 years where he was an elder, trustee, teacher and youth sponsor.

He felt a lifelong devotion to T.C.U. for the opportunity the University gave him and was a dedicated Horned Frog. There he served on the Board of Trustees and was an avid supporter and board member of T.C.U. Fellowship of Christian Athletes for many years. He was a member of the T.C.U. Lettermen's Association. He was inducted into the T.C.U. Letterman's Hall of Fame in 1986 and was a recipient of the Royal Purple Award.

Ronnie always strived to give back to the Fort Worth community and served on the board of numerous organizations including Lena Pope Home, Lena Pope Foundation, Union Gospel Mission, Gill Children's Services, Texas Presbyterian Foundation, Community Foundation, Cotton Bowl Association and Shady Oaks Country Club.

He was a member of the Exchange Club and served a term as president.

He received numerous awards and honors for his service, for which he was humble and grateful.

Ronnie was a great Dad and Papa, a strong and gentle presence in the lives of his family, always wise and supportive. He enjoyed nothing more than time with family or a round of golf with great friends.

Our family wishes to thank the kind and gentle caregivers at Trinity Terrace Skilled Nursing Center for your excellent care of our husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors: Wife, Kay; son, Bill (Jan), daughter, Lynn, daughter, Anna; grandchildren, William Morris, Anna Brockman (Luke), Emily Smith, Jennifer Carr (Austin), Avery Clinkscale, Julia Clinkscale; one great grandson; sister-in-law, Ann Spence; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to First Presbyterian Church, 1000 Penn Street, Fort Worth 76102; T.C.U., PO Box 297044, Fort Worth 76129; Union Gospel Mission, PO Box 1987, Fort Worth 76102; or a charity of choice will be greatly appreciated.
