I worked with Steve at C&B and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to have known him, even though it was only for a short time. When I last saw him on Thursday, he seemed to have a song in his heart as he walked down the hall. Mary Jane, my deepest sypmathies are with you. The memorial was lovely and very fitting. It goes without saying that he will be missed.

It's been several years since the Buckellew boys were at Southwest, but, Phil, I remember each of you clearly. It was always a pleasure to discuss "argue" a point with Steve. His intelligence and his ability to use the language were challenges. Did I drive him to distraction when I put limitations on his writing? He was the kind of student that made teaching a pleasure. I know how much you loved him, Phil, and I am so sorry that you and he can no longer get into mischief together. I hope you will take comfort in knowing how much he enjoyed life and having you as his brother. Also, would you please extend my sympathies to your mother and sister.

I knew Steve in high school, mainly through Phil or Toby. Steve always had a great deal of intelligence that will spill over to his sense of humor. I always remember him smiling or laughing and making jokes, I rarely understood. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. As I remember Steve, I can only imagine he still has a wonderful family, a strong bond with his friends and a great relationship within his community. I hope you all find comfort in the beautiful memories he helped you create. May peace be with you all!

First, I want to express my sympathy to Mary Jane and the rest of Steve's family. I feel so fortunate to have known Steve and to met many of you.

Steve was one of the most intelligent and interesting people I have ever met. Many of our conversations ended with me wondering why I forgot the references he made until he made them. Unfortunately he did not have time to accomplish the greatness he had within him.

I already miss Steve. The fact I just chatted with him just days ago reminds me that I just wasn't done with our relationship.

I pray he is at peace or at least having a great conversation with God.
