Lisa, I can't believe how much I still miss Steve. I remember driving to case sites with him and he'd leave the infernal turn signal on. I'd tell him STEVE! the blinker! Are you going to turn right forever? He'd look at me with that silly grin and just say "Yes, dear". I'd love to hear him say that one more time. Lisa, you're in my prayers.

I met my sousin Steven only once, many years ago, but still recall his sweet sense of humor and very kind eyes. I am sending love and prayers to Barabara and Ray and Lisa and Becky, and my entire Texas family...as you go through this very sad time--I know your faith will provide strength and in time your happy memories will also
comfort you.

Dear Friends,
Thank you for all the nice comments about my brother. Do me a favor and call your brother/sister/family member and tell them you love them. I had not spoke with Steven since his surgery on Thurs...but on Sunday night, I did speak with him...he told me he loved me and I said I loved him. I told him Tylar and I would pray for him and then we said, "Goodbye". Hours later he passed during the night. I Thank God I made the call. Now you go make your call!
Steven, you were the best big brother!
Your sister,
Becky Henry-Chapa

Dear Ray, Barbara, Bobby and Becky;
I was sad to learn of Steve's passing. I know that God will open His arms to him as Steve did to others. What a great guy!
When we played, Steve always wanted to be the Sheriff. Randolph Scott had nothing on him. When we wresteled, Steve could take us all at once, Haystack Calhoun had nothing on him. Steve could make you laugh harder than Icky Twerp. One of the biggest smiles in my life will always have Steve's face.
God Bless, Roger George

When my aunt Sybil Layfield called tell me of Steven's passing, I was shocked and deepley saddened. I will always remember Steven as the gentle giant, the fun loving classmate. Even though I hadn't seen him in over 30 years and he was few years older, he made such an impression on me that it seems like I saw him only yesterday. He set a very high mark for tolerance and kindness. Others of his physical stature might have been bullies or overbearing, but not Steven. I never met a better fellow. My heart goes out to all the family and all of Steven's friends. Trust that he will live forever in God's special place and even in this world for as long as we remember him.

Lisa and Family, My husband I both had the privilege of working with Steve for many years. I myself had so many laughs with him, and shared some sad times too, what a sweetie he was to be around. Thank God for memories. I know Steve will not be forgotten by his law enforcement family.

Lisa, We are saddened, but forever greatful to know Steve these past few years. Gentle Giant the term that will always be in our memory. "Dinner with 8" made many special memories for my family as dinner for 8 was usually dinner for 12-15. Steve made Van look like such a small man, but could make us all laugh until it hurt. God has given you a special angel. May God's peace and comfort continue to be with all of you in the next few days, months, years. The flea circus must be needed in heaven. With love,

Lisa, I am so sorry to learn of Steve's passing away. Steve was bigger than life, and I loved him to pieces. I loved it when we went out on a case together. I would watch the bad guy's eyes follow Steve's stature until they were looking up with their neck's craned. Their eyes would get so big. He was a gentle giant. I will miss him dearly. Heaven has a line backer for a Guardian Angel, now. Let's keep in touch.

Dearest Ray, Barbara, Bobby, Becky, Lisa & family:

I just today learned of Steven's passing. I am so sad but at the same time, I take comfort in knowing he's in heaven. What a great guy he was! He truly was a man of character and fun-loving and decent and a joy to be around. The last time I saw him, I just plopped down in his lap and he, Lisa, and I had a big laugh about it. He said, "Paulette, you haven't changed a bit." And neither had he. What a loss for all of us. I will pray God will give you peace and that you will find comfort in all your wonderful memories of this unique, precious man.
Love, Paulette

I was so fortunate to go to Northwest when Steven (Radar) was in school. Even though I was in Jr. High, Radar was one of the upper classmates that made everyone's day special and always put a smile on your face. I am so sorry for your loss and hope you feel comforted by the fact your Radar will meet all of us with a smile and open arms someday.

As I remeber back to the days of our youth a smile comes to my face. Days at the dairy were always full of fun-chasing cows, poking @ bees nest, even falling into the sewer! Now, as you "play" among the angles, I know you must be having a wonderful time. You were a good person and will be greatly missed by many.

I remember "Radar" as one of the first boys we met when Perry began coaching at Northwest. He was always special to us. Sometimes I would take him and Bobby home after games, and the two of them always made me laugh. He will be missed by many, just as he was loved by many.

Our deepest regrets and sympthy at this time. We would so much want to be with the rest of the family at this time if it were not for health issues of our own.
God be with you all in this hard time.
Steve is with the Lord now and in no pain. We all will miss him. As I write I can hear his voice. Some things are never forgotten.
We can only hope that there will a sweet peace that will be over all of you as you remember his love of you all.
There can be no replacement for Steve except that the Lord touch the spot in your heart and you know today at this time there is a "Special Soul" with Jesus.
God Bless you all and heal your pain. Steve would want that for you all.

Lisa, Walter, William, Sara, our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of sorrow, I want you to know that Steve was one of the truest friends I ever had for the last 37 years, Steve was a friend who would never leave you no matter what the cost, we shared more laughs than most people share in a lifetime, we could laugh at each other and with each other, he was there when I was on top of the world and at the bottom, he would never desert you, I am so very fortunate to have had him as a friend and a law enforcement partner. Happy trails to you my friend.

Ray and Barbara, Lisa, Bobby, Becky,

I don't know the words to express how I felt when my Mom called and told me of Steve's passing. Your entire family has always been dear to me and I have a ton of great memories of the things our families did when we were growing up. The times we went on vacation together, going fishing, going to the flea markets. I remember like it was yesterday Steve taking me and I think it was Ricky Sonnevelt to the movies and we saw Dirty Dingus Magee and laughed untill we cried. I hate that I have not seen you guys much since I moved to Ohio but your entire family are in my heart and prayers. Steve was a big man with even a bigger heart. I know he is in Heaven now and I will see him again someday.

I love you guys,

Richard Dixon
