Wesley Day Obituary
Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Benbrook. Burial: Benbrook Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mid-Cities Funeral Home, and 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Wesley was born Dec. 24, 1960, in Fort Worth to JoAnn and B.R. Day. He was raised in Benbrook and attended Western Hills High School. He liked fishing and hunting, but becoming a father was his greatest joy. He was a very loving, caring, hands-on dad to Kaylin and Kevin. They were his world.
Wesley leaves behind a very large circle of family and friends who loved him and will miss him dearly.
Survivors: Children, Kaylin and Kevin Day; parents, B.R. Day and JoAnn Day; sisters, Cindy Christopher and husband, David, and Linda Cook; nephews, Dustin Reavis, and Clay and Cash Cook; the mother of his children, Tanya Bodtke; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

Wesley and Family,
Our lives are forever changed without you here on earth. There is a hole that cannot be filled.
Questions that we cannot answer. You left us with the gift of two wonderful children and so many wonderful memories. I wish you were still here to share your stories and your love. I know that you are looking over us and nudging us to do the right thing. Knowing you are in a better place and the fight that you endured gives some peace. I know we will see you again!!! Please continue to watch over us. I know you have your hands full because there are still alot of us and we all need guidance!!!

Hi wesley It is katie how have you been doing have you met god yet.I have missed you even though I am not a family member.Kaylin and I are still the best of friends.I was at your funeral,It was so sad.Kaylin cryed and cryed, Kevin tried to keep it in,But you could tell he was was one of the most upset by looking in his eyes.My mom and I fond a song that fits this situation perfectly.My mom and I are moving back to fort worth,because my grandma isn't doing very well,she has demenchia.I will try to keep you posted each week.

I can not begin to tell you how much I miss you. Its hard to believe its been a year since you left. Kaylin and Brother are doing good. Kaylin and I have been sending e-mails to each other, she is such a sweet and beautiful girl, and Brother he is so handsome and he is a smart little guy. You would be so proud of them both. Thank you for being their dad and bringing them into our lives. Kaylin and Brother are very special to our family and we will always take care of them.

Wes: It is hard to believe that a year has passed since you went home to be with the Lord. I am keeping my promise I made about Katie and Kaylin remaining friends forever. Kaylin and Kevin miss you and talk of you often. They are wonderful children and I really enjoy being with them as much as I can. You were a wonderful father as well as a truly honest, down to earth human being. We think of you often, but realize that you are in a wonderful place. I will continue to watch Kaylin and Kevin grow for as long as I am allowed to be with them. Katie and I talk of you often and Kaylin has picked out a star that we always see in the Weatherford sky. Everytime we look up we see your star and remember the special person you were. You are loved and missed by many. Until we meet again my friend, remember you will never be forgotten. Gone but not forgotten
Even though you are not here on earth, you are with us in our hearts. It has been a year now, but the pain still hurts like it was yesterday. Kaylin and Kevin miss their dad so much. Your time with them was short, but you always put them first no matter what. Thank you for your kids as they are a blessing to us, and in having them we still have a part of you. We will never forget you, but until we see you again, know that you are loved and missed by all.

It is hard to believe it has been a year since you left us. I miss you everyday. I know you are in good company with Mike and Uncle Eddie and all the other loved ones who went before you. The kids started school last week and are doing good. Kevin is you made over, he walks like you and has the same expressions. Kaylin is so pretty, and everyone can see that she is a Day. They miss you so much! Today will be hard on us all, especially Mom and Dad. Life has gone on, but it just isn't the same without you.

Wes, I miss you everyday! I try to have Kaylin & Kevin as often as I can. At first they were bored but now they seem to like it a little better. Your birthday was really hard, especially for Mom and Dad. I don't think the pain will ever go away for any of us.
Kevin got cool kid at school this week. the teacher said it was because he was a good kid and no one has been through what he has. Kaylin loves her teacher and they are both doing good in school. Tanya is working and trying to adjust to life without you always being there for her. I promised you I would always be there for the kids, and so far I have been. I love you and miss you with all my heart

I remember Wesley during our ball-playing years down in Benbrook Texas. I was on the same team with Wesley on the 1969 Dodgers. I think I still have that team picture.Those were some fun years. It's hard to believe so many years have passed since then.
I last saw Wes at one of the Day family reunions a few years ago. He was the same friendly guy I always knew.
Hopefully these warm memories can give Wesley's family strength during this time.

THERE WAS A CERTAIN QUALITY ABOUT HIM THAT JUST SEEMED TO LIGHT UP THE ROOM WHERE EVER HE WENT- IT WAS ALL BUT IMPOSSIBLE TO BE UNHAPPY IN HIS PRESENCE. HE WAS PEACE-MAKER, ALWAYS TRYING TO SMOOTH THINGS OUT BETWEEN ANY OF HIS FRIENDS OR FAMILY WHO HAPPENED TO BE AT ODDS WITH EACH OTHER. AND HE WAS EVER LOYAL, EVER LOVING, AND ONE OF THE BEST DADDIES I HAVE EVER SEEN!! YOU COULD JUST SEE IN HIS EYES WHEN HE LOOKED AT KAYLIN OR BROTHER, HIS PRIDE AND HIS JOY! HE WAS ALSO PROBABLY MY BROTHER'S BEST FRIEND IN THE WHOLE WORLD SINCE THEY WERE LITTLE BITTY KIDS. HE WILL BE MISSED TERRIBLY BUT AS OTHERS SAID: NEVER FORGOTTEN>> MY OWN FAVORITE MEMORY OF HIM WAS ONCE WHEN WE WENT TO COLORADO, ON A SUNDAY, DURING A BLIZZARD, HE HAD AN AWFUL TOOTHACHE AND WE HAD TO FIND A DENTIST ON CALL, DRIVE INTO TOWN, and HAVE THE TOOTH PULLED-- ONLY IT WAS THE WRONG TOOTH: BUT WESLEY WAS TOO NICE TO TELL THE POOR GUY, SO IT WASNT UNTIL LATER WHEN HE CONTINUED TO BE IN PAIN THAT WE HAD TO GO BACK AGAIN TO REALLY FIX IT. We are very sorry for you loss. Kevin and Kaylin have always come to our house across the street and we were very saddened to hear the news of their father. I just saw Wesley's obit and want to say how sorry I am. Back in high school I used to date one of his friends, Greg Sarratt. One night, me, Wesley and several other people were all packed into Greg's Ford Pinto. I was in the front seat and Wesley was one of the guys crammed into the back seat. His face was pushed up into the back of my head and he said, "Gee, Your Hair Smells Terrific, Brenda!" (That shampoo was popular at the time I was indeed using it).
Just thought you might like the story. Wesley was very sweet and I remember him well.

Wesley was a very genuine, caring, loving, good person. God bless him and I will be praying for his wonderful children Kaylin and Kevin to get through this difficult time and to remember all the happy memories that they had together.
Here is a poem that I found from a Father Joseph McCoy; if a tiny baby could think, it would be afraid of birth. To leave the only world it has known would seem a kind of death. But immediately after birth the child would find itself in loving arms, showered with affection and cared for at every moment. Surely the baby would say, “I was foolish to doubt God’s Plan for me. This is a beautiful life.”
For the Christian, passing through death is really a birth into a new and better world. Those who are left behind should not grieve as if there were no hope. Life is changed, not taken away. Our dear ones live on, in a world beautiful beyond anything we can imagine. With Jesus and Mary they await the day when they will welcome us with joy.
