For over four years, it was my pleasure to work part-time as a caregiver/companion to "Mr. Bill". The duties were varied and at the dictate of the boss. There was filing, record keeping, sorting, cooking, decorating, shopping, planting, watering, mailing, and anything that needed doing. He was always grateful for my efforts, and always thanked me. In the event he believed he owed me an apology, he never let me walk out at the end of the day without a sincere apology.
His memory was prodigious, and he taught me something I practice to this day. When searching for an answer to something that was escaping him, he would close his eyes and leave them shut for 10-20 seconds, at the end of which he would give his answer. That method never failed him and he always came up with a response. (It was a wise thing to remain silent during his thinking time until he opened his eyes and spoke.)
I will certainly miss the time I spent with Mr. Bill. He was a very interesting, and admirable gentleman.

We are forever grateful for the blessing of both Bill and Martha Murphy as neighbors. Their wisdom, friendship, and spirit of sharing made the concept of "neighbor" a gift. Their presence was like an oasis; and to us, they were like extended family - both are deeply missed.

I was an admirer of Bill's. Not only was he a fine lawyer, but also a wonderful man who mentored me.
God Bless Him.

To Bill's family, it is with sadness and sympathy that give my condolence. I have known Bill Murphy for many years, as a former president of the Tarrant County Bar Association, as a colleague in the practice of law, as a mentor, as a role model, and as a lawyer of the highest caliber of integrity. He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.
