Alfred Volio Obituary

VOLIO Alfred Paul Volio, 84, of UA, died Sunday, March 8, 2009 at his daughter's home under her care. Alfred was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, mother Mary and father Angelo Volio. He is survived by his daughter, Paula Volio; brothers, Jay and Jon Volio of Columbus, Ohio; and sister, Dr. Elizabeth Mastrangelo of Willoughby, Ohio. Alfred will be cremated. Al was a loving, kind, sweet, calm, gentle, patient, precise, academic-minded father and husband. He had relentless devotion, unconditional love, deep hope with round the clock care for his wife Dorothy, during her long illness, which resulted in her death in 2006. He served in the Navy during WWII. He was an electrical, aircraft engineer, for RONCA, North American Rockwell and Rockwell Aviation and was featured in a two page spread in the Columbus Dispatch about his work on a space craft for NAR in 1963. He was also an automotive engineer for Ford Motor Company and GM in Detroit and Chicago, where he met his wife. He was also a teacher for Columbus Public Schools, a realtor and a long time member of the Columbus Board of Realtors. He resided in Bexley for over 30 years and in UA for nine years. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of Mt. Carmel Hospital Foundation, 793 W. State St., Columbus, Ohio, 43222.
