Astrid Redmond Obituary
Astrid S. Redmond, November 11, 2018 in Columbus, OH. Astrid gave a valiant fight against pancreatic cancer. As a nurse she dedicated 40 years to serve those in need of care. She spent 17 of those years at the OSU Medical Center. Astrid selflessly served others as not only a nurse, but a friend. When there was a need even outside the hospital, she was there. She also gave back to the sick in our community, even caring for others with her own time and money. Astrid is preceded in death by her husband Paul C. Redmond, sister Mary Helen Ecsy and her parents Mandrup and Astrid Skeie. Survived by children, Astrid (Bill) Redmond Guay and Mark Redmond; grandchildren, Astrid, Billy, Caroline and Dylan; brothers, Mandrup (Lorinda) Skeie and Kjetil Daniel (Jane) Skeie; sisters, Margrethe 'Kitty' (Dan) Sorgen and Synneve 'Karen' (Khaled 'Ko') Skeie-Alameddine; beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the SHAW-DAVIS FUNERAL HOMES, 34 W 2nd Ave, Short North Chapel. Her funeral service will be held Tuesday 11 am at the King Ave United Methodist Church, 299 King Ave, Columbus, OH 43201. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Rev. Colleen Ogle officiating. I just found out that my good friend Astrid has passed away. I worked with her as a nurse in Columbus. She was in my wedding in 2012. She was a very kind person and friend to me. She was always willing to help others in what ever way she could. I will always remember Astrid and her daughter and her grandchildren. They were in my wedding. Love you Astrid, you were an angel. One of the nicest people I´ve ever known. Rest in peace, sweet lady. I will always remember you.

I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Redmond's passing from this terrible disease. I was friends with Mark for many, many years until our paths went in different directions. However, 35 years later, I have never forgotten the family. Mrs Redmond was a beautiful, giving, caring individual. I never heard her say a bad thing about anybody and she gave everyone a chance. The world has truly lost a special individual. Prayers out for Mark, Misty and the rest of the family

I am deeply sorry to learn of the passing of this fine person lovely woman and skilled and compassionate professional. Many of us in the OSU Department of Neurology worked with her over the years, and I am sure that all will miss her and send their sincerest condolences and prayers to her family.
