Bernie C. Grebus

Grebus Bernie C. Grebus, 91, a lifelong resident of Groveport, died on Monday, March 9, 2015 at St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville. Born on June 25, 1923 to the late Peter and Marcella Grebus, Bernie was a 1941 graduate of Hamilton High School and a member of their 1939 State Champion Baseball Team. Bernie served in the Air Force in World War II and the Korean War. After his service, he worked as a carpenter and retired from Devine Construction. Bernie was a founding member of the Metropolitan Columbus Daylily Society, a member of the Ohio Daylily Society, and a member of the Groveport Lions Club. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dora Mae Grebus; children, Janet (David) Murphy and Chuck (Lynn) Grebus; grandchildren, Samantha Roehrig, Marisa Nightengale, and Lia Grebus; great-grandchildren, Reese, Laine, and Cannon. Bernie was preceded in death by his sister Adella Mikalas and his brothers Peter Grebus and Frank Grebus. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 5684 Groveport Rd., Groveport, OH 43125. Friends may visit for an hour prior to the service.
