Catherine Howard Obituary

HOWARD (SOUTHARD) Catherine Southard Howard, age 96, of Milford Center, Ohio, passed Tuesday evening, April 4, 2006. Born in Marysville, Ohio, March 19, 1910, daughter of Edward Francis Southard and Anabel Schoedinger Southard, she was the wife of Cone Hathaway Howard, Jr. who passed August 22, 1952. She resided in Marysville and Milford Center her entire life. A 1928 graduate of Marysville High School, she was known for her social and sport abilities. In 1932, she graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University as an education major. As a teacher she influence many generations of grateful youth. Catherine was active in Milford Center United Methodist Church, Kings Daughters, Mary Chapter #9 Order of Eastern Star, Houston House, American Association of University Women and numerous political and religious organizations. Mrs. Howard was the mother of five children, Edward Southard Howard, Ercil Howard Casey, Nathan Southard Howard, Lynn Howard Schaefer, Nicholas Hathaway Howard; grandmother of eight grandchildren, Ercil Howard Wroth, Lyndsay Howard-Zita, Lewis Coleman Casey, Catherine Casey Nottingham, Taffy Michelle Howard, Candy Howard, Peter James Schaefer, John McDonald Schaefer. There are eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by son Nathan and granddaughter Taffy; also by her elder half-sister Frances Southard Neer and younger sister Margaret Southard Henrie. One sister survives, Marian Southard Graham. Interment will be privately observed at Milford Center Cemetery. A memorial service will celebrated at the Milford Center United Methodist Church at a later date to be announced. Pastor Ronald Payne officiating. Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of contributions to Milford Center Methodist Church. INGRAM FUNERAL HOME, Marysville, is in charge of arrangements.
