I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of Collette. We served in the same Army Reserve unit, once upon a time during the journey of our career's. I remember like yesterday, when she told me she was about to retire from the Reserve's, and began working at DSCC, I was so happy for her, and she was so excited for the new chapter in her life to begin. She was a person full of resourceful information, daring to do what someone said she couldn't, and was very generous to help the person to her left and right. She was so hilarious about some of the stories she shared with me, I would just laugh so hard, that she would start laughing at me laughing and we couldn't stop. Collette also was very encouraging unselfishly. She will be missed! I send my condolences and prayers to her Family. God Bless You Wheeless and Corbin Family.

I am Collette's former Co-Worker and previous conversation buddy. Collette and I clicked right away when we met in 2011. Maybe because we shared our military backgrounds and work experience. She is one of the most courageous, invigorating, considerate, funny, and definitely most accomplished woman that I know. She broke barriers as an African-American Woman and Leader in the military and in the Scuba Diving World. Being as adventurous as she was, it is hard to believe that she had time to bake BEAUTIFUL cakes out of LOVE. She wasn't a bad pool player either:). I will cherish all the beautiful moments that she shared with me. To the family, I never met any of you but she LOVED all of you tremendously and talked about you all the time. She also loved and missed her father very much and now they are together. Naomi, she was VERY proud of you, your accomplishments, and just like her, your "go get it" attitude. She also loved her mother so much and enjoyed going shopping with her. Thanks for sharing your loved one with me. The pleasure was definitely mine. We will keep your family in our prayers.

Collette is my friend! I had the distinct pleasure of serving with her in the Army Reserves where we shared many great times. I will miss the random messages of her whereabouts. I'll miss her stories of her latest adventures across the world diving. I will miss our story telling of our early soldier experience. I will miss her fashion sense that was one of the best. Most of all I will miss her!
