Dick Malone Obituary

MALONE Dick Malone, beloved father and grandfather, of Columbus, died Tuesday, June 17, 2008 on his 78th birthday at Mount Carmel Medical Center. He was a police officer with the Columbus Division of Police retiring in 1984 after 29 years of service. Dick is survived by his three sons, Martin, Gerald and David Malone; grandchildren, Haley, Carley, Mickayla, Mickenzie, Mitchell and Matthew; friends, Mary Thomas and Ardie Schirtzinger. Dick was preceded in death by two brothers Hank and Jerry. He was a graduate of Central High School, Columbus. Funeral Service will be held 12 noon Saturday, June 21, 2008 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, where friends may call after 10 a.m.Saturday until time of service. My friendship with Dick goes back to the 60s and Big Bear on Main St. I was a Mgr.for Big Bear and Dick worked the back dock for me. The Dick stories are many. God speed Dick.

I am very sad to hear of Dick's passing. He was one of the true character's of the Police Dept during his years. We that knew him and worked around him all have a favorite Dick Malone story.
