Donald Davidson Obituary

Davidson, Donald
1933 - 2019
Donald Allen Davidson, born in Cleveland, Ohio March 30, 1933 passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loud family on February 24, 2019. He loved and is loved by God, his wife, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents Arch and Mae (Ryan) Davidson, aunt Loretta "Rah-rhus" Ryan, brothers Jim (Lucy) and Tom (Sandy), sister Dorothy (Joe) Belavich and baby sister Loretta. He is survived by Mary Ann (Diemer), his wife of 61 years; children, Matt (Tammy), Bill (Paula), Patrick (Sherri), Anne (Jim) Kusmer, John (Anne), Mary (Paul) Franchak and Ryan (Mark) Nowicki; and more nieces and nephews than we can count. The world's best grandpa, he would allow his 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren to eat popsicles for breakfast if that's what made them happy. The family wishes to thank the staff and adopted family at Crown Point Care Center, especially Don's extra daughter Laura, for their love and compassionate care. He was a graduate of St. Ignatius High School ('50) and John Carroll University ('54) He worked 36 years at CIT Corporation, and 4 months at Ameriflora'92. He was an avid cyclist, completing TOSRV and several other century rides over the years, literally pedaling the wheels off his bicycle. -Twice. He also enjoyed acting and singing in several community theatre productions including Fidler on the Roof, Pirates of Penzance, Brigadoon, and of course, the title role in The Loud Red Patrick. There will be a memorial Mass at 11:30am Saturday, March 16, 2019 at St. Timothy Church, 1088 Thomas Lane. His family will receive friends and relatives 1 hour prior to mass, lunch to be served immediately following in the parish hall. The family suggests you wear green in honor of St. Patrick's Day. Don has donated his body to the OSU Medical School. Hopefully they will find a cure for Lewy Body Dementia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the JCU Alumni - Columbus Chapter Book Fund, 1 John Carroll Boulevard, University Heights, Ohio, 44118 or go.jcu.edu/davidson or to the Saint Ignatius High School Annual Fund, 1911 W. 30th St., Cleveland, OH 44113 or https://www.ignatius.edu/give. Rest in peace Uncle Don. Memories are forever and the ones I have of the Diemer clan gatherings in Northeast Ohio are priceless. Laugh until you cry is always how I felt in his presence and his Donald Duck impression was the Best!!! Peace to the family, sending tons of hugs and prayers. Miss you all! Love, Tracy (Prosser) Addison (daughter of Marjorie (Diemer) Prosser)

Uncle Don had the best Donald Duck impersonation ever. As one of a gazillion Diemer's kids out there, he always made me laugh til I cried. Sending all my love and prayers to the whole family. What a blessing to be surrounded by his "loud" family as he peacefully passed onward, we should all be so lucky. Rest easy. Love, Maureen Prosser
