Dorothy Wickham Obituary

WICKHAM Dorothy Walther Wickham, age 93 of Sunbury, Ohio passed away peacefully on January 7, 2012. She was born on March 7, 1918 to Carl and Dorothy (Busboom) Walther of Glenvil, Nebraska. She married Kitridge H. Wickham March 7, 1938. She was a devoted Christian who loved being surrounded by her family. Dorothy was a homemaker and also worked as church secretary at Peace Lutheran Church in Gahanna in the 1960's and 70's. Later in her life she volunteered at ISS in Centerburg for many years. At 90 she was proud to be the oldest member at Curves in Sunbury where she completed over 700 workouts. She was a member at Living Word Lutheran Church in Galena. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Rev. Royal E. Walther Sr.; sister Sophia (Peg) Radcliffe, grandson Mark Thomas Wickham, great granddaughter Stella Lilly Jenkins, great grandson Gavin Michael Jenkins. Survived by a sister, Velma VanDeest; sons, David (Joyce) of Texas, Thomas (Pamela) of Sunbury, Jonathan of Delaware; eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. Special thanks to Marty and Lisa for their wonderful Hospice care. Our heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Country View Nursing Home of Sunbury for providing a caring and comfortable place for mom to call home. Cremation services provided by the DOWDS-SNYDER FUNERAL HOME in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Private graveside services at Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date. To all of the Wickham family. We loved Dorothy as we do all of you. Truly God blessed each of us to have known such a wonderful, kind and faith-filled woman. Love & Blessings.

I met Dorothy when she began hospice in May. She was a delightful person to visit and I am glad to have known this long. The only family member I met was a niece who visited every week,Pam, I think. I also visited her sister,Velma last week and will continue to do so. If I can be of any other help, please let me know. Judy, Hospice volunteer
