Earl Sullivan Obituary

Sullivan Jr., Earl
1959 - 2020
Earl L. Sullivan Jr., 61, of New Albany, Ohio, passed away at his home on December 17, 2020. He leaves behind his wife and high school sweetheart, Sue; and sons, Benjamin and Jacob. He was a unique and caring individual who truly touched the lives of all who knew him. He was a devoted husband, father, Papaw, coach and friend. Earl, referred to as "Junior" by his closest friends, enjoyed fishing, golfing, and going on trips with family, as well as anyone else who wanted to join in on the fun. Jr. always said "we aren't here for a long time, so let's have a good time," a saying that he personified each and every day. Earl spent several years coaching his two boys in sports as they were growing up, as well as many of their friends, many of whom he became a second father to, while founding, growing, and running a successful contracting business for over 30 years. Earl was actively involved with and a founding member of the Adventure's for Wish Kid's foundation, for which he and Sue organized an annual golf outing for 17 consecutive years. Earl will be remembered by all for his absolutely contagious (albeit occasionally inappropriate) sense of humor which he brought to each and every situation. For his relentless work ethic and high standards, which he applied to everything from the smallest household chores and projects to the largest contracting jobs. For his creativity and street smarts, which made no task impossible or any challenge insurmountable. Jr. moved through life with an energy that was impossible to ignore or deny, and as such, these values - so natural to him - became instilled in anyone who was fortunate enough to spend any amount of time with him. Earl will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. His legacy will continue to live on through the countless incredible memories and stories of him. Memorial donations may be given to: A Kid Again- 777-G Dearborn Park Ln, Columbus, OH 43085. A celebration in honor of our Dad's life will be held in February 2021. My sincerest sympathies Sue, Ben and Jake, and to the entire family. I reflect on what a great friend he was over many years through a flood of memories. Memories of fun, but more importantly, memories of his loyalty, generosity, compassion and selfless deeds. I pray you find some peace in knowing the positive impact and lasting impression he had on so many people.

First of all, to Sue, the family and close friends; I am so sorry for your loss. I loved reading about Junior’s impact on the lives of the people around him. He clearly left a beautiful legacy. While distance has kept us apart for many years with careers and family, Jr. has always been one of 3 guys that I talk about when I refer to my best friends growing up. I wish there was space here to add to the MANY adventures we shared together. To this day they remain some of my greatest memories. My family, who never met Jr unfortunately, knows very well who he was by the stories I’ve shared with them over the years. He had one of the greatest senses of humor that I’ve ever known. I am deeply saddened with his loss and my deepest sympathy and prayers go out to the family. Gone but never forgotten.
