Elaine Kiourtsis Obituary

KIOURTSIS Elaine (Duros) Kiourtsis, born October 17, 1935 of Powell, Ohio, formerly of Upper Arlington, passed away peacefully at home November 27, 2012 surrounded by those that meant the world to her: her husband of 55 years, Dr. James D. Kiourtsis; her children, Lori (Kiourtsis) Vynalek and husband, Mike of McConnellsville, OH, Dean and Mary Jo Kiourtsis of Upper Arlington; and grandchildren, Henry and Ted Vynalek, Will, Deano and Zoe Kiourtsis; brothers, Deano Duros (Bess) and Bill Duros (Vicki), both of Columbus, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Sevastee (Vasillion) Duros. Her greatest joy was her family and spending time with them; especially at their farm, where she found peace and solace in Nature. Those that knew Elaine were touched by her radiant smile and grace. She was devoted to her Greek Orthodox religion and The Cathedral in Columbus, where both her parents were founding members. She was also a 1954 graduate of South High School. Friends may call at the O.R. WOODYARD CO NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 2990 Bethel Rd. from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday. Trisagion at 7:30 p.m. Memorial service will be held at the Greek Annunciation Cathedral on Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment Union Cemetery. Family suggests contributions be made in Elaine's memory to the Greek Orthodox Cathedral and the Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund.

Dear Jim, Children & Family;

I am still trying to compose an appropriate note to commemorate the passing of this special person and soul of Elaine. Little can be said to afford you any comfort.
I remember her visiting me at Sarasota Memorial Hospital a year ago. Her bright smile encouraged me.
I'll forever and fondly remember her.

I just heard about Elaine's passing from a South High classmate. Elaine and I were friends in high school and I was at her home several times as we lived on the same street - Champion Ave. She was a great person and always smiling. She will be missed by a lot of her old classmates. Sherrie (Phillips) Ault (we live in Fl.)
