Dear Ernie
My good friend and neighbor of 10 years, we will miss you, but rest assured, you will never be forgotten. You have given us so many great memories, being a true friend, always there for us when help was needed, even if we didn't ask for it. Your gentleness and honesty was an inspiration for me and many others to be a better person. There are too many stories to share here, but where ever you are now, a part of you will always be with us when we come together for a chat on the porch or a shared beer after a day in the yard... .

Ernie was one of the kindest guys I've ever met. I worked with him in the summer in high school and college, and he opened my mind to peace studies and different ways of perceiving service. He wasn't afraid to have convictions and to bravely stand by them. Frank and family, I'm so sorry very for your loss.

Ernie was a great friend. We all grew up together at Muskingum and my fondest memories of college involved Ernie. Though we would not see each other often over the years whenever we spoke we would pick up where we left off. He was that kind of friend and a wonderful person. The highlight of many of our conversations were his family vacations with all of you. Mr. Sylvester, you and your wife raised a wonderful son. He was always so proud of you and the accomplishments of his brothers. We will all miss him.
I am sorry I couldn't be there today, but please know my thoughts are with you all.

I had the privilege of working with Ernie when my daughter was in Grandview's Lego League. He was a natural mentor to the kids and kept his calm around the energized middle school robotics teams. I will always remember his kind and gentle spirit. My heart is with the Sylvester family.

To Ernie's Family: I just wanted you to know how great it was to work with the nicest guy. He was the "go to" person on 3 South. He knew everybody. Always the kindest words. He would stop at my desk after his lunch walks around the building and tell about the leaves turning colors or how nice it was in the sun shine. And with a smile.
I never knew you were even ill. You will be missed.

I lost touch with Ernie when I moved from the neighborhood. We use to play together when we were younger. I use to live across the street from him on 152nd St. I'm sure he is in heaven watching over us now. Just remember you have not lost him because you know where he is. May the Lord bless you and keep you. Darlene Maliszewski (Raynwater)

Sharing backyards ..... .
While attempting to beautify our gardens in the hot summer sun, Ernie and I became great friends sharing tips on growing, harvesting, how to produce the best compost.... & how to enjoy life. If we weren't digging or mulching we were keeping our cats from killing each other. Some of my fondest memories are the sharing of the harvests bounty. Thank you for all the gerber daisies, fresh tomatoes and bright red onions, -I still don't know what to do with all the garlic!
I will miss you tremendously my dear friend. And will keep you close to my heart always. Peace to you and your family, Ernie.

God Bless you Ernie....We were both voted "Most Gullable" in 1979 in our Olmsted Falls yearbook. We recently reminisced about that and enjoyed getting reaquainted on Facebook. Rest in Peace my friend.
