Harold Sylvester Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Torkelson Funeral Home - Necedah on Feb. 4, 2026.
Harold "Butch" Sylvester, of New Lisbon, WI and formerly of Kenosha, WI, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 20, 1942, to Claude and Grace (Keppen) Sylvester, he lived a life marked by faith, devotion, and dedication - as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He also served as a Sergeant in the Army Reserves.

He is survived by his wife, Renee (Sadler) Sylvester; daughters, Tina Sylvester and Tammy Jackson; grandchildren, Addison and Riley Sylvester, and Kaylee and Luke Conning, whom he loved dearly; siblings, Eugene Sylvester and Donna Fani; and many extended family members and cherished friends. The family also wishes to acknowledge the support of special family members, Dena Wendling and Nancy Janus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; many beloved relatives; his brother-in-law, Jerry Fani; sister-in-law, Virginia Sylvester; and numerous close friends he considered family.

Harold's life was defined by his passions-baseball and softball, bowling, and especially hunting and fishing. His love of the outdoors and his competitive spirit never faded. Time in the woods and on the water with family and friends brought him his greatest joy. He also dedicated more than 30 years to Continental Can Co. in a leadership role, where he was known for his strong work ethic and reliability.

With the love and support of his wife, Renee, Harold grew in faith and welcomed a life of gratitude and simplicity. After retirement, the two found peace in the quiet beauty of the woods and waters, sharing nearly 30 years of a life filled with grace-along with their cat, Buster, with whom Harold shared a special bond.

Harold will be remembered for his determination, his love of the outdoors, his devotion to his wife and family, and the special joy he found in his grandchildren. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 28th, 2026, 12:00 p.m. at the Faith Christian Church, N4691 US HWY 12 & 16, Mauston, WI 53948. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at the church.

The Torkelson Funeral Home of Necedah is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be offered at www.torkelsonfuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faith Christian Church of Mauston in his memory.
