Evan Currie Obituary

Currie Evan Currie, age 19, of Dublin, passed away Friday, June 16, 2017. Evan had just finished his freshman year at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a Marketing Major with specialization in Entrepreneurship. He made many close friends during his first year away at the University. He was a 2016 graduate of Hilliard Davidson High School. He was home for the summer in Dublin, Ohio with his family. He is sadly preceded in death by his Uncle Phil Currie in February, 2017 of Essex, Connecticut. His surviving relatives include his parents, Jeff and Liz Currie; and his brother, Eric Currie; his grandparents, Richard and Doris Currie, and Tom and Sue Tatterson. His aunts and uncles include Greg McCrea and Linda Currie McCrea, Beth Currie and Tom Tatterson Jr. His cousins include Nick and Chris Currie, Cameron and Amelia McCrea and Lily Tatterson. Evan was a brave, warm hearted, and genuine Christian. He always put others before himself. His free-spirit was appreciated by a wide and diverse group of friends. He was quick witted and always brought a smile to our faces. That contagious smile and his bright blue eyes will be missed forever. We were so lucky to have had him with us for his short 19 years. Family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME WITH CREMATORY, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Indian Run United Methodist Church, 6305 Brand Rd., Dublin, OH 43016. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Appalachian Service Project (ASP). ASP repairs homes free of charge for families in Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Evan served with ASP during two summers and said he felt like he was "doing God's work". Make checks payable to Indian Run United Methodist Church (IRUMC) with the memo of "ASP Donation". www.tiddfuneralservice.com

My dearest, dearest Lizzy. You have been indelibly on my mind for one solid week. I now know why. From our entire family to yours, we extend love and peace, in the midst of your storm, my friend. But most of all we extend a continuous flow of heartfelt prayer, toward you, Jeff, Eric, and all who love Evan. Just one look at Evan, and it was immediately obvious that he knew God, and was curious about Him, even as a toddler. Now, joyously safe in the arms of His God, Evan's legacy of love, warmth, and of giving, will ignite your hearts with untold memories,..just forever. I pray that in the coming days, that by God's unlimited grace, you'll find unusual strength and comfort, as you receive from not only the hundreds of wonderful friends who are holding you in thought and prayer, as I am,...but that you'll receive strength and comfort right from the throne of our God, in a way that only He can comfort. In a way that only He can restore. In the meantime, please know that my heart is reaching for you. I love you like the sister that you are, and always, always will. Strength, peace and blessings to you and family.

I will always remember this little boy and his beautiful eyes playing with his cousin Lily and little brother laughing together. They were blessed to have each other and the best thing is they knew it.

I am grateful to God for each of you in this family who spent every minute possible to be together as a family. You made plans and stuck to them. Every family needs to know how we choose our time matters. Your family did just that.

Evan brought us so much joy and he did it simply with his smile.

Love you always

My thoughts and prayers go out to your family. My son, Adam Trice, had the good fortune to meet Evan through Angelo Cordova. Adam felt that he and Evan would be lifelong friends, as they had a lot in common. He will cherish Evan's visits to Ohio University and he will be sadly missed.

Dear Currie Family, My son, Mason had the gift and privilege of knowing Evan at Xavier this year. I would ask Mason what he was up to and he would often say, hanging with my bro, Evan! Mason has told me what a wonderful person and friend Evan was to him and that they had many great times together. You are in our daily prayers and thoughts.

I am so sorry for your terrible loss. It really isn't supposed to happen this way. As parents we're supposed to pay for college, dance at weddings, spoil grand children and if we're lucky have our kids care for us as we age. It's just so unnatural to lose a child. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
