uncle floyd was one of only two uncles i ever met. i remember a very funny man, always smiling. i was young then. but i always thought he looked like a movie star. but aunt peaRL WAS WHOM I WAS CLOSER TO. I VISITED WHEN THEY LIVED ON BENFIELD. MY MOTHER AUDREY DUNN WAS FOND OF FLOYD, AND LOVED WHEN AUNT PEARL VISITED. MY HEART GOES OUT TO THE FAMILY, AND ESPECIALLY AUNT PEARL. THEY WERE THE PARENTS OF MY COUSIN POLICE OFFICER JIMMY, AS I RECALL. I HAVE ALWAYS HELD HIGH RESPECT FOR ALL THE NEWELLS. GOOD BLESS.

To know Floyd and Pearl was one of the warmest and most dearest part of my life growing up. Floyd had a way about him that made you feel great to just be around him. He alwsys had great stories to tell of which could make you laugh to tears. I'll never forget around the dinner table that every thing Pearl cooked , Floyd told me it was called Gobbidy Goose and it was always delicious. I can't put it into words that can express how much he'll be dearly missed in our hearts.

Once you met Floyd Newell you'd never forget him. He was a character and I mean that in the most respectful way. He cared about everyone around him which made you like him just that much more. Floyd was gifted with telling very interesting stories, especially comical funny ones and loved to tease his wife's little dog 'Spencer'. One can't think of Pearl without Floyd, they are two of a kind, a very special kind. I will truly miss him. The last time we spoke he told me that he'd lived a full life (wife/kids/job/house/truck/etc), seen-n-done about everything he ever wanted and was now ready to move on, soon as the Lord could make room for him. I heard the other day a heavenly mansion was just completed and Floyd was invited to move in. He accepted.

We have lost a wonderful member of our family. When I looked at his kind blue eyes I saw my family. So glad he got to attend his Buck reunion. He always had a memory to share with us. He will be sadly missed. Jeanie Buck

I will always remember and miss Grandpa. Some of my best memories were just sitting on the front porch or under the white trunked shade tree out back on Benfield with him and listening to his stories, or when Grandma and I would take lunch to him at his little guard shack. He loved to tease Spencer! I would laugh so hard when he teased that dog! I remember him laughing through so many stories...He was a wonderful person who was very much respected and loved. I'm sure that anyone who ever knew Grandpa, learned something from him that they will carry throughout their life. I know I have. May God bless all of our family and friends as they say goodbye to Grandpa.
