Frances Beer Obituary

BEER Frances Rose Beer. On Wednesday, April 1, 2009, God brought home a beautiful angel, Frances R. Beer, who was called from her hospital bed after an unexpected illness at the age of 77. She is preceded in death by her father and mother Gustav H. and Frances R. Burkhart, and survived by her husband, A. Gene Beer; sons, Gregory S. (Mary) Beer of Florence, Ala. and Geoffrey D. (Sandra) Beer of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter, Aimee J. (Matthew) Wellejus of Columbus, Oh.; brother, Kenneth L. (Carol) Burkhart of Uniontown, Oh.; and sisters, Nancy (Ronald) Dawson of Green, Oh. and Christine Reichert of Powell, Oh. Her memory also survives in six loving grandchildren, Jordan, Grace, Hannah, and Irene Beer and Marshall and Emerson Wellejus. Frances, a.k.a., "Snooky," Burkhart was born November 3, 1931, in Altoona, Pa. and moved to Akron, Oh. in 1944, blossoming into a graceful woman and marrying Areles Gene Beer in 1953. With Gene, she embarked on a colorful journey that took her to Columbus, Ga., San Marcos, Tex., Monterrey, Calif., Fulda, Germany, Bad Hersfeld, Germany and Fort Knox, Ky. in her roles as devoted military spouse and secretary of the Officers' Wives Club. She transitioned to a life of civilian service in 1962, settling in Macedonia, Oh., and becoming active in parish volunteer work for St. Barnabas and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Churches. For over 25 years, Frances was an Executive Secretary - first for Jarva, Inc., and S&M Constructors, Inc., in Solon, Oh., and then later for Mid-American Natural Resources, Inc. Moving to Erie, Pa. in 1981, she continued her volunteer work at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Her last home was in Columbus, Oh., retiring with Gene in 2003 where they attended St. Peter Catholic Church. She enjoyed baking, line dancing, and photographing her favorite subject - family... especially grandkids. Family and friends may offer their final blessings on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at a viewing to be held at the ANTHONY FUNERAL HOME KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 South Main Street, Akron, Oh. from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. followed by a memorial mass at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown Street, Akron, Oh. 44301 at 2 p.m. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family at Resurrection Cemetery in Columbus, Oh. Donations may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church Building Fund. (Anthony Funeral Home, www.anthonyfh.com, 330-724-1281).

Dear Gene and Family: I too worked with Fran at Mid American and have very fond memories of her kindness, willingness to share her knowledge, and her devotion to serving others. Fran was the epitomy of "class". I was honored to know her.

Dear Gene and family, I had the pleasure of meeting Gene and being her stylist for the last few years. Never have I met such a wonderful, kind soul who like many have said loved her family dearly. I had many wonderful conversations with her and feel as though a piece of my heart is broken. She is truley an angel that will be missed but never forgotten. Dear Gene and family,

I am so sorry to hear of Fran's passing. She was a wonderful lady. She loved her family dearly and we would often talk about you and the children. She was so proud of her family.

Although we lost touch the last few years, I have always considered Fran my friend. I enjoyed working with her when Mid-American Natural Resources and Laport Builders shared offices.

Please know that you and your family are in my prayers and thoughts during this difficult time.

Dear Gene and family,

We were so sorry to hear about Frances last night, but we know she will be in a better place and have no pain, so we are thankful for that.

I feel like I have lost a part of my life as Frances and I have been friends since we both started 8th Grade at St Pauls school together and have kept in touch with each other since then. I am so thankful that Frances and I talked to each other for at least an hour before she went into the hospital. I have talked to Aimee several times recently and you must be so proud to have such a nice daughter that I know will look after you. We hope to meet Aimee someday and to see Greg and Geof again some day. And you know we expect to see you out here in Lake Havasu City one of these days. Please know that we are sending our sincere sympathy to all of you.
