Norm was such a card! So much fun and joy to be around. Never met a stranger, I will never forget his humor, his smile and his love and devotion for his family. I am deeply saddened for his family who will miss him tremendously!

I have since moved away but in the 20+ years I was Norm’s neighbor we spent many times chatting across the backyard fence. During these years I thoroughly enjoyed Norm’s frequent conversations about his parents in Indiana, time spent in the military, early years of marriage, his wife and children. He shared stories about each of these experiences, some were funny, others educational but all were interesting.

Some things or stories I’ll remember:.
• Stories of Korea including the cold weather and time spent huddling by the fuel oil burner
• Stories of Cushman and Harley-Davidson motorcycle riding
• Stories of expanding the front of the house using his designs and hard work along with cheap child labor
• His green thumb for the garden vegetables, but especially the giant sun flowers he was able to grow
• Norm’s determination and amazing mechanical ability to keep the old rototiller or lawnmower running for another year

Norm was a great asset to the Hilliard community for so many years. His type of quiet, continuous and selfless contribution is what made Hilliard great in it's growth years. I am so sorry to know that he has died. My gratitude to his family for sharing his wise presence with me and so many others for all those years.

Please accept my deepest sympathies.

Norm and I worked together when I was a young customer engineer with IBM in the early 80's. I always enjoyed his company and talent.
