Gary Best Obituary

BEST Gary M. Best, of Columbus, OH, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 15, 2011, at his home. He was born on March 18, 1965, in Peoria, to Roger J. Best and Frederica A. (Lyons) Andrew. Gary is survived by his parents, Roger and Joyce Best of Peoria, and Frederica Andrew of Columbus, OH. Also surviving are his son, Jacob A. Best of Columbus, OH.; four sisters, Dawn (Jon) Van Gundy of Grove City, OH, Annette (Jesse) Gutierrez of Peoria, IL, Jennifer Best of Columbus, OH and Kelly (Eric) Ryan of Grove City, OH. He is also survived by several nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins. Gary was preceded in death by grandparents Donald and Phyllis Best, Wilfred Lyons and Helen (Lyons) Reddish and John and Vesta Greene, stepfather Fred Andrew, an aunt Victoria McDonough and an uncle Dr. Gary L. Best for whom he is named. Gary was a devoted father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be remembered for his kind heart and his ability to make people laugh. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Gary was an avid Cub, Buckeye and Dale Earnhardt fan. He was a Harley Davidson enthusiast. Gary was a graduate of St. Bernard's Grade School and Woodruff High School. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, September 19, 2011 at Wright and Salmon Mortuary in Peoria. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at St. Bernard's Church with visitation one half hour before Mass. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Kickapoo, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Bernard's Church.
