Ian Wright Obituary

WRIGHT Ian George Wright, Retired Master Chief Petty Officer (CMCOP), of Columbus, Ohio, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, died Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his brother, Donald Wright and wife, Anne of Rhode Island; sons, James "Jimmy" Wright and wife, Sharon of Groveport, OH, Ian Wright and wife, Marsha of White House, TN; daughter, Olga Lecky of Columbus, OH; his ten grandchildren, Shawn, Eric, Stephanie, Erin, Brandon, Kyle, Brandi, Cory, Harley, and Rosie; six great-grandchildren, Devin, Kaitlin, Abigal, Sandra, Orion and Ronin; former daughter-in-law, Susan Wright. CMCPO Wright was preceded in death by his wife Sandra Wright, parents Alec and Jane Wright of Rhode Island and grandson Christopher Wright of Reynoldsburg, OH. He retired from the United State Navy after 30 years of service. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Special Olympics, and the Boy Scouts. He was also retired from Buckeye Steel. He was a man with a big heart to help anyone who needed help whether it was for children, family, friends, co-workers, or a stranger. He had a passion for the Special Olympics and for many years would help organize and referee the games in the Ohio region. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, April 15, 2010, 3-7 p.m., EVANS FUNERAL HOME, 4171 E. Livingston Ave., followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. with a Military Chaplain officiating. www.evansfuneralhome.net

Ian you were a very caring and generous man. I'll never forget how many times I redid your Christmas tree one year. It had to be perfect. You always wanted the best for your family. You will be greatly missed.
