Jackson Shriver Obituary

Shriver Jackson H. "Jack" Shriver, age 84, died peacefully Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at home in Columbus, OH. He was born in Columbus on October 4, 1930. Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served in the Alaska Territory during the Korean War. Jack was a talented engineer, woodworker and gardener; he enjoyed taking pictures of family and friends. He worked at North American Aviation, Bell Sound, Ranco and Scientific Columbus (Gemtech), where he was one of the founding employees. Preceded in death by parents Jackson and Louise. Jack will be missed by his wife, Betty; children, Charles, Michele(Patrick), Michael; granddaughters, Maria and Ella Basile; sister, Esther; as well as nieces and nephews. He was a kind and caring Christian man. Jack married the love of his life, Betty Halls, of Corydon, IA on June 15, 1953. They enjoyed friends, family, grandchildren, cats, nature, swimming, exercising and just being together. Member of the Columbus Homecraft club. Member of the Order of the Engineer. Volunteer at the Columbus Metropolitan Library, Karl Rd branch. Graduate of Linden McKinley High School, class of 1948. Received an Associates degree from Franklin University. Contributions may be made to the Cozy Cat Cottage Adoption Center of Powell, OH in his memory. Calling hours are 6-8 p.m. Friday August 14h at the RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High Street, Worthington, Ohio, where service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, August 15. Interment, Riverside Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio.
