James Siders Obituary

Siders, Sr., James William
1944 - 2021
James William Siders, Sr., age 76, of Dublin, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 18, 2021. Born April 30, 1944 in Mt. Vernon, OH to the late Walter and Edna Siders, James "Jim" was a 1961 graduate of Eastmoor High School and a 1965 graduate of Capital University. After graduating, Jim worked for General Motors for 35 years before retiring in 2000. Jim talked often about what a fulfilling life he had lived. He loved to golf, listen to music, and travel. Some of his favorite destinations were Palm Springs, CA and Hilton Head, SC. More than anything else, Jim absolutely adored his family; his favorite thing to do was to spend time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Jim made it a priority to attend any and all activities his grandchildren participated in and he was so very proud of them. He will forever be missed by his loving wife of 45 years, Barbara Siders; children, James Jr. (Bobbi) Siders, Melissa (Kevin) McCauley, Rhiannon (James) Greene, Derek (Heather) Siders; grandchildren, Abigail and Harrison Siders, Keegan McCauley, Ian Greene, Edison and Xavier Siders, and godson, Thomas McKitrick (parents, Jack (Betsy) McKitrick and brother, William); and sister, Judy (Emil) Ontko. Jim recently wrote this in a journal to his grandchildren in response to the question "What mistakes have you made and what would you have done differently?" To quote my mother, "Everything always works out for the best." When I think about where I am in my life, I would totally agree. I have great children and grandchildren with whom I love to spend time and enjoy their activities. I have a wonderful wife of 45 years who I love and we enjoy doing things together. I am not rich, but we can afford to do everything we want. So, whatever mistakes I've made have "worked out for the best." I think those words from my mother were always in the background and gave me the positive attitude to overcome my mistakes. We think he summed things up pretty well and we couldn't agree more. We know he is smiling down on us with that smile he always wore. He will forever be held in our hearts. The family will receive guests on Friday, April 23 from 4-7pm at Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell in Powell, OH. There will also be a private service for the family on Saturday, April 24. One thing I will always remember about Jim was how he was always at every family function I attended. His daughter Rhiannon and my wife are friends, and whether it was a cookout at the Siders home for the Memorial Tournament (which he always had extra tickets for) or a Christmas party or just a random weekend get together he was there, with his family, with a big smile on his face. Very obvious how important family was to him - he was a great man who will be missed. So sorry to his family for their loss.

I had the pleasure of doing Jim’s hair for over 40+ years. We had many conversations about the love he had for his family and the memories of General Motors. I will always treasure the times I had with Jim and the discussions we had about all the events going on. God Bless Barb and family. They meant the world to him.
