Hey Aunt Jean! I made a pot of greens this thanksgiving and thought about you. Your greens were some of the best around, hands down! You are missed here, but never forgotten. Continue to rest easy.

Stephanie and Stephvon,
I meet your Mother and Grandmother only 1 time, but she was a very nice lady. She was very tiny and frail, but she had a quick wit. I know how painful this is, but God needed another angel to fill the choir in heaven, so he called her home. We will keep you in our prayers, because now you will need strength.
Your friend, Bernie Kenny

Oh Miss Grannie Jean, This is Lisa, remember, Kara's BFF. I just want you to know that the time I spent at your home in October 2010 was one of the most memorable times of my life...you were so warm, loving, and giving. Thank you for welcoming me with open arms and making me feel right at home. I enjoyed you so very much and I miss you terribly. I was so happy to see where Kara came from, and I always told her that she was you. I'll miss Kara wining, "Grandma, where's my coffee" God gets to have you all to himself now, but when I see you again in Heaven, I hope that God will allow you to hook up some of those signature black eyed peas, crispy bacon, and coffee that is out of this world. Tia, Stef, thanks for letting me call you Auntie, and Steven, I referred to you as Uncle Steven, and Clyde, I haven't had the pleasure of meeting you yet, and Kara, my BFF, you all have been extremely Blessed to have Miss Grannie Jean! I will continue to pray for you all. I love you! If you need anything, please don't hesitate to call me.

My dear Aunt Jean, you will be missed. One of my most favorites aunts in the world! You made some of the best greens I've ever had! I will truly miss you, but know that you are in a better place. I cherish our time together on this Earth and know that you are still with all of us in spirit. Give my Papa a hug and continue to watch over all of your family. Love you Auntie!

I only knew you as "Granny Jean" because that's what my wife, Kara Covington-DeLaney, always called you. Whenever she said your name it carried the weight of all that you represented.. You were a sister, friend, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother to all that graced your presence. You exuded warmth, so it comes as no surprise, that in a sometimes harsh and cold world, family and friends alike flocked to you to be reminded what love really feels like. My wife took great pleasure in sharing the joys of her life with you. She also took great comfort in knowing that she could share her sorrow with you and you would treat her with the utmost care and respect. When I first met my wife, I saw and felt her strength. When I first met you, I had no doubt where my wife's strength came from. Your legacy of strength, love and wisdom will live on in your family. I know this to be true because Kara, Claudia (Tia), Clyde (Pops), Stephen
and Steph, just name a few, live there lives with the same heart that you've shown them. There is no legacy more powerful or long-lasting than a legacy of love. I thank you for sharing your family and legacy with me.

To The Covington Family
My "Aunt Jeanie Weenie" will be missed by me and all the others. I'll miss our liver and onion lunches, our instant scratches, sleepovers, and chats. She truly was the head of the family after Mom and held her position very well. There was NO ONE who could not come to her door or table at anytime. Love, Hugs, and Kisses to All!

Covington Family,
I lost my parents also, and we know that there will never be anything or anyone who can replace that loss, but this is just a little something to think about, Mrs Covington lived a long and fulfilled life, that she was known and loved by many, many people and will remain in their hearts and thoughts, she is no longer suffering. Remember the love she had for her family and others. Always focus on the good times, the laughter, and the many fond memories that you have. As time goes on the pain that you feel now, will ease. Always remember when you think that it is too much for you to bear, you can always pray and it will help you through these hard times. I too will always remember the good times I shared with your family, and will keep you in my prayers. My deepest sympathy goes out to your family.
