1935 - 2019
Jerome "Jerry" Beach, age 84, lived a full life until a brief illness took him on Sunday, July 28, 2019. Jerry was born on February 27, 1935 in Middleport, Ohio to Charles E. and Katie Beach. He retired from the State of Ohio after 28 years of service with 22 years with the prison system. Jerry loved spending time hunting and fishing with friends and family. Jerry was a member of Apache Bow Hunters, COAHC and OBA. Preceded in death by his wife Sandra and brother Roger (Alice) Beach. Survived by his daughter, Jeri (Kevin Lines) Miller; son, Mark (Jo) Beach; grandchildren, Ryan, Erin, Cole, Trenton and John; step-grandchildren, Taylor, Timothy and Trevor; nieces, Lesley (John) Haignere and Kimberly Provance; and many friends. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at HEART and HOPE FUNERAL HOME by SCHOEDINGER, 3030 W. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio, where funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, August 2, 2019. Entombment Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Apache Bow Hunters, 1710 Linnet Ave., Columbus, OH 43223.

Jerry was a regular customer at the post office I worked at. He loved to talk about his hunting and fishing trips and we were always glad to hear them. He always had a smile on his face and always gave us a good laugh. My heartfelt prayers to all his friends and family.

As a new member at Apache, I've only had the pleasure of knowing Jerry for a very short time. He was very happy and full of life everytime I saw him; he loved showing pictures of his and his family's fishing and hunting adventures. He was very proud of his family. I really enjoyed talking to him. We had a small inside joke after winter thaw this year that I will miss. Jerry and I were talking as I was eating lunch before going home, and right as I finished he asked if I ate any of the venison chili he made. Of course I was too full at that point and sad as that's a favorite of mine. From then on, before getting lunch I'd ask him if he brought his chili, cause he let me fill up on hot dogs at winter thaw. Then he'd always tell me the story of the baked bean contest he and his wife had. His family loves his baked beans, I hope he left his recipe behind. Jerry was a very nice man, and a pleasure to be around. I'm happy to have known him as little as I did.

My condolences to the family and all of Jerry's friends at Apache Bowhunters, where I met him a year ago. He supported me through my so-far-successful battle with cancer, calling me often to chat and telling me I was always welcome at Apache even if I couldn't shoot. I will miss his voice on the phone, so I'm glad I saved one of his voicemails.
Again, my prayers for his family and friends.

Gerry & I were first cousins. My mother Ethel was sister to his mother Katie. I spoke with him often on the phone. Our interactive life's journeys were good and long. He will be truly missed.
