John Joseph "Jack" Lyons Jr.

Lyons Jr. John "Jack" Joseph Lyons, Jr., age 86, died on Thursday, October 29, 2015. Born and raised in the Boston area, Jack moved to Columbus in 1977. Jack was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Loyal Order of Moose, BPOE Order of Elks, and was a 1st degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Jack's passion was insurance, especially training and developing agents. He retired after 28 years from Nationwide Insurance and continued pursuing his passion for teaching. He was preceded in death by siblings Marie (Peter) Kennedy, Geraldine (Bill) Pearson, Leo and Bill Lyons and daughter-in-law Sue-Ellen Lyons. He is survived by his children, John J. (Cynthia) Lyons III, Christopher J. Lyons, Jeanne J. (David) Delisle, and Peter H. (Deborah) Lyons; Jack was adored by his eight grandchildren, Carolyn (Aaron), Hillary, Erin, Bridget, Cortney, Kelly, Sara and Peter. Jack also leaves behind dear friend and companion, Roberta Savely; sister-in-law, Maureen Lyons; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Jack will be remembered for his undeniable wit, tremendous sense of humor, and selfless generosity to all as demonstrated by his 25 years of volunteer service at Kobacker House and his work with special needs children. Jack had a knack for making everyone he met feel special. He was an avid sports fan and as a life-long Boston fan he was rewarded with 9 recent championships. He adopted the Buckeyes and was a regular on "A deck". Jack loved golf, and leaves behind many friends on the links, but few, if any golf balls.
