To John's Family
I am sorry to hear the news of John's passing. I worked for Senator Curran; five of us shared a very small office with John when he was a Senator so John was a part of my daily life for over two years. I haven't seen him since but as others have said, he is the kind of person who remains in one's heart and memory. Such will be the case with his spirit as it lives on in each of you. May you find comfort and peace in the knowledge of the good he did on this earth for so many.

Maggie,

Your dad was a special friend. Early in our work together, I asked him to carry a bill that would give dental hygienists a seat on the state dental board. He enthusiastically accepted and we got the bill passed. But something else happened on the way, he met your Mom, a dental hygienist. And the light of his life was a result of that union. He so loved you! He is at peace now and we hope you will take comfort that he was a man of integrity and was a friend to so many. We share your sadness at his passing.

Maggie,
I knew your Dad for 30 years and worked closely with him during my time with the county commissioners association. He was a master at knowing the politics and practicalities of any situation. I cosidered him a mentor, even though I am older than he was. He even entrusted me with reading his book drafts. He talked about you all the time. He loved you more than you can imagine. I will miss him, and so will a host of others. Be well and cherish the good times.

Maggie,

As a long-time employee of the Indiana league, I got a chance to know your dad and felt privileged to call him a friend. We shared a lot of good times together at NLC meetings and spent hours talking about everything under the sun. He often spoke proudly of you (I have daughters also, so we even shared a few parenting tips!). He was a true gentleman and I will miss him greatly. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

To all our cousins - we will miss John's comments about politics & the world in general. As my dad used to say - "How is it going Senator Mahoney?" We will always remember the great picnics we all had during our childhood. We were very lucky to have each other.
