John Preston Obituary
John Preston, Jr., age 65, died suddenly on August 20, 2018 in Tennessee. A self employed contractor in Central Ohio since 1968. Survived by his wife, Christine "Chris" Mayer Preston; sons, John J. Preston, III and wife, Lisa (Francisco), Scott and wife, Katie (Selby) Preston, Nick and wife, Emily (Steva) Preston; grandchildren, Travis, Anna, Luke, Leah and Jack Preston; parents, Rose and John J. Preston; sister, Robin Preston Major and husband, Anthony; brother, David Preston; many other relatives and friends. Friends may call 3-8 p.m. Monday, August 27 at St. Elizabeth Church, 6077 Sharon Woods Blvd., where his Memorial Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 28. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be in his name to the St. Francis DeSales Scholarship Fund, 4212 Karl Rd., Columbus, OH 43224. Visit www.egan-ryan.com for messages of condolence.

The house that John built is still in great condition thanks to the skills John had. Other than trees lost in the 2024 March tornado the property pretty much looks the same thanks again to the Preston landscape layout.

On behalf of the students, faculty, administration and alumni of Saint Francis DeSales High School please accept our deepest condolences on your loss.
To those who were blessed to know John you were immediately struck by his infectious smile and his ability to make everyone feel at home. It was equally clear to all who knew John that he had a deep love of his family and faith.
While John has been called to his eternal resting place his love and concern for others will be carried on by his loving family and friends for they have learned from a wonderful Patriarch
The Saint Francis DeSales community hold all who love John in our thoughts and prayers - may you find warmth and comfort through your wonderful memories and may you find Christ's peace in the days and weeks ahead.

So sad to hear about John's passing. John was always great to talk wrestling with, especially during Nick's Junior and Senior years at DeSales. Was always open and interested to hear your views and predictions. Just a kind and "Cool" individual. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Chris and the entire Preston Family.

I was so sad to hear about John. I went all thru grade school and high school with John. Was always so friendly every time I saw him. My sincere condolences to Chris and his entire family. With sympathy.

So many memories! When I moved to Columbus in August of 1972 a mutual acquaintance got me a job with John. That was August 26, 1972. Through John so many of his & Chris' (John's wife) friends became my friends. Thank you John & Chris. When I got married in 1978 Chris was my wife Cheryl's Matron of Honor and John was an Attendant in our wedding. J.J. ,their first son, was the ring bearer. I worked for John some 13 years all told, and learned much. To this day John and his family are special friends to my wife Cheryl & I. So many memories!
