God saw she was getting tired, and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around her, and said "Come with Me." With tearful eyes we watched as she faded away, we loved her so dearly, we knew she couldn't stay. Her golden heart stopped beating, her love for us at rest; God broke our hearts to show us. He only takes the best. He only takes the best. We were blessed to have her in our lives. She will be sadly missed by all, but especially her daughter Tootie who devoted her life to taking care of her beautiful mother during her battle with cancer. From the time I met Penny, I thought she was a super sweet lady. She bought all sorts of Raggedy Ann and Andy items when I was in Children's Hospital that I still have, along with my first pair of 'grownup' earrings, turquoise, from Arizona.
Penny was generous and had a big heart and she loved to laugh at silly stories I'd tell her. The last time I talked to her, I got to tell her how much Mom and I loved her.
When she married Carroll, she made me feel very special by allowing Cindy and myself to carry the train of her wedding dress.
Just to show a glimpse of how friendly and loving she was, Mom and I dropped in unexpectedly one Saturday night after the mall closed. Penny wasn't in the least upset that we didn't call first, she hugged both of us and insisted that we come in and visit.
When I was growing up, I looked forward to Penny and Carroll visiting every Saturday night and there are so many precious memories of the times we spent together. I'm thankful that God allowed her to pass peacefully and without pain. She will be missed very, very much.
