Katherine C. Cathers

CATHERS Katherine C. Cathers, age 90, of Groveport, and long-time Canal Winchester resident, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 7, 2008, at Mt. Carmel Medical Center, Columbus. Born September 14, 1917, in Canal Winchester, Ohio, to the late Samuel B. and Mabel (Loucks) Dietz; also preceded in death by beloved husband Donald Edgar Cathers in 1994, son John Samuel Cathers in 1992, step-mother Lulu (Good) Dietz, sister Helen I. Solt and brother John H. Dietz. Katherine was a graduate of Canal Winchester High School in 1935, member of the Canal Winchester Senior Center and was past-president of W.I.C. (Women In Construction). She was also employed for Altman Construction as Office Manager. Survived by daughter, Connie and Don DeMate, LaMirada, CA; daughter-in-law, Carol; grandchildren, Elizabeth Jean Benedetti, Susan Katherine Diehl, Carrie Sexton, David Cathers, Sarah Cathers, Robert DeMate and Joe DeMate; step-grandchild, Kelli Kay; great-grandchildren, Eric Benedetti, Rachel Benedetti, Caleb Benedetti, Connor William Benedetti, Penn Warner Diehl, Evinn Cathers, Alison Cathers, David Sexton, Katheryn Sexton and Nicole DeMate; step-great-grandchildren, Kathleen Kay and Corbin Kay; sisters, Elsie Ruth Lisle, Mary Alice Cornett, Sarah May Breier and Betty Lou (Carl) Cooper; sister-in-law, Virginia Dietz; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Friends may visit Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Gender Road Christian Church, 5336 Gender Rd., Canal Winchester, Ohio 43110. Private interment at a later date.
