Lindsey Phillip Pell

Lindsey Pell Obituary

PELL Lindsey Phillip Pell, age 55, of Plain City, died peacefully Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at Riverside Methodist Hospital with his family at his side. He was retired after 31 years as a machinist with Buckeye Steel Castings. He was a member of the Marysville First United Methodist Church and was a 1971 graduate of Westland High School where he played right guard for the OCC champion football teams. Lindsey enjoyed his affiliation with the Ohio Gun Collectors Association and held membership with the USWA #2342. He was an avid gardener, growing the best tomatoes, and enjoyed buying and selling GI Joe collectibles on EBay in recent years. Often referred to as the "Man of Steel", Lindsey was a very strong and athletic man who loved playing softball and other sports. He was stubborn and ornery at times but will be remembered as a wonderful husband and provider and as a great brother. More than anything, he was filled with so much love and pride for his little girl, and he felt so blessed to be able to be her Daddy. He was born November 13, 1952, in Wheeling, West Virginia, to the late Carroll J. and Josephine B. Donoghue Pell. Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Penny Dennison Pell, to whom he was married on April 7, 1984, in Grove City; his daughter, Josie Lyn Pell, age 9, of the home; three siblings, Deborah (Roger) McCoy, Galloway, Rebecca S. (Mark) Schell, Reynoldsburg and Gregory C. (Mary-Joe) Pell, Orient; his mother-in-law, Jeanne M. Dennison, Columbus; two sisters-in-law, Gara (Ed) Sauer, Uniontown and Kyle (Darren) Boas, Frederick, MD; a brother-in-law, Jerry (Laura) Dennison, Columbus; several aunts; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends. A celebration of Lindsey's life will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at 7 p.m. at MANNASMITH FUNERAL HOME, 621 W. Fifth St., Marysville, OH 43040. Reverend Ken Daft will officiate. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until the time of the service. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions to be made to The Kidney Foundation or The James Cancer Hospital in care of the funeral home.
